Default Maxxis Big Horn Radials

Dang, I didn't notice that the radials were heavy. That is probably too heavy for what I want.

I may go bias ply.

Look at the bright side - the radials will lower your center of gravity even more!! LOL

Those radials are almost as heavy as my mudrunners? Are you sure that is what you want, Oldman?

Doesn't the bias ply ride well enough to not need the radial? Do we really need the radial?

As I see it once a machine is over 600 pounds and you put skid plats on it and a few other goodies a few extra pounds is not going to make that big of a difference especially when the weight is located below the center of gravety. More important, which tire is going to give you the best performance the bias or the radial?

With all due respect to Mike he is paid by Maxxis to race their tires and more important he is paid to promote the tire he is running which at this time is the Maxxis Big Horn. Now I'm not on anyone's payroll and I'll respond by saying that everyone I know that put on ITP ATR has had some kind of troubles with them. Either the bead did not seal on the first try or the leak around the bead or the stem and one person has even spun a tire on his rim. Now I have them on my wifes machine and she has had no problems at all with them, but then again she doesn't ride on the edge like some of us do. ITP makes good tires but so does Maxxis.

Does anyone know if those 8 spoke wheels come to fit more bikes than they have listed? the list is rather sketchy to say the least!

All radial tires weigh more, just like the radial outlaws weigh more than the normal ones. They have Kevlar belts in the outlaws, seen a set on a sp700 today, the guy said the Police use that in their vests, so they shouldn't be able to shoot his tires out! lol.

Are the radial tires stiffer? Because my bias ply Gators are stiff enough, and they bias ply bighorns are 6ply as well, so IMO the bias ply 6 ply tires are all you'd need. Anyone got prices on them?

Something to consider is rolling resistance. Does the radial Bighorn take less power to turn than the bias Bighorn this can be a big advantage when racing. Titan 589s have far less rolling resistance than Outlaws of similiar size although they are 1# difference in weight just something to think of ( rolling resistance ).
