Default HMF Quiet Cores.......

Does anyone own these, and do they help quiet the beast a little? There are some times I would love to be just a tad more quiet. I know these pipes are bound to pi$$ some people off, and I want to avoid that when I am riding in some areas. When I am close to any home when I am out I go idling by for a few hundred yards just to try to show them respect. At home I only run the bike on and off the truck and I have one neighbor that I know does not like it. But the thing that RIPS MY A$$ is why the several Harleys that are louder that go by my house every day I hear nothing about. It seems only us off-roaders are the ones that catch it. But they are after us enough...so how about those cores?

It is much better than the open pipe. But it is still loud when you open it up.

My friend has a Vinson and he went through the same thing that you are, the core does a nice job of quieting it down and it still sounds great as far as people complaining about dirt bikes that is how it always has been, I don't think that will ever change. But I'm trying.

The quite cores help ................ but there are still pretty loud.

I was having trouble with some of my neighbors ........... so I bought a DB meter.

Without the cores ........... about 107 db's
with cores ................. about 100 db's

( measured 20" from pipe, 45 degree angle, A scale, engine at about 3000 rpm )

Thanks. From the sound of VFORCES test I believe that I will just save the $50. Seven db's just don't sound worth the money.

I know that seven does not sound like much ...... but it is very noticable.
I made a set of inserts to

Here in this township .... it seems to have made the difference between the neighbors calling
the police ... or not. To be legal in this township I have to be less than 85 dB at 50 feet.
The quite cores still don't get down to that level, but close enough I have not had the police
show up since.

I agree with Vforcer, the differance is much more noticeble when you are moving and not just at 3000 rpms. Riding behind him, it makes a BIG differance, I can hear later on. I would get the quiet core, and in the Vinsons case, the quiet core gave him more horse power to boot, because of more back pressure. Hope this helps...

Its day and night different with them. Its as quiet or better than the stock pipe. It will drop the power back down close to stock. It is definately worth the cost if you want quiet duals and they will send the spark arrestors for free if you ask!
