High Altitude Clutch Kit
#1
Spoke to the dealer about my prairie and he said that they dont sell a prairie anymore without highly recommending this kit for the area ... 5k and above. Anyone heard of this kit (believe its the weights) and does in help with performance...especially high altitude...any in put would be appreciated...oh yea they say they get the high altitude clutch kit from kawasaki (why dont it come stock in high altitude regions?)

Ive been very curios about this kit as well.. I think the main part of the kit is the lighter weights.. Vesco's told me that they installed it on a 360 & it kept right up with the Eiger.. doesn't seem many people have messed with clutch weights, especially relating to altitude.. Big Boy's toys told me they would sell the weights only for $100, all I can say is give it a shot, I havn't yet but plan to.. I"m also considering just drilling out my existing weights to lighten them.. Wich dealer did you talk to about them highly recomending the kit?? I have been told that the dealer in Centerville does install the kit, but of course there more expensive..

My dealer here in American Fork more or less said it consisted of 2 1mm shims to be installed under primary clutch spring, which in reality is a pink, a red or white spring that has been covered in every forum since the begining. I have the Dalton "white" in mine and the lighter belly weights and he said "thats better than the altitude kit". Who knows, I don't think the dealers do....

The weights are $20.92 each at Ronayers. They are rather easy to install also. You don't even have to remove the primary clutch from the machine.

I also forgot to mention, we at this altitude wether it be atv's or NHRA dragracing give up 18-20% of our horsepower in a naturally aspirated engine. The only way to use what the motor can provide is to keep it in it's torque curve as soon as possible, which is gearing it lower, like a lighter, tighter front clutch. a P650 in a stock configuration at this altitude stays at the bottom of the torque curve way to long due to the rear backshifting. I would venture to say that the wow sensation we get with a DG module is what a stock P650 feels like at sea level... just my opinion
