P.W.... I did this along time ago, for competition ( after your reccommendation )... I was just hesitant to use that as the sole or permanent fix as a solution, we'll need to come up with a "fix" for people that are uncomfortable disconecting safety switches... WAM

come on K.O.D., don't be a stick in the mud... I know you like to drag, If you could get an extra 5mph in the distance you are racing, with the addition of a $45.00 belt... I know you'd be there in a heart beat...LOL... we'll just have to see how it shakes out...WAM

I guess Im just irritated because I cant ride. Im not sure if any of you have heard but I broke my heal bone in a ladder accident while pressure washing the house. This happend two weeks ago, Im going in for surgery at 1pm today and will have to stay in the hospital today and tomorrow before I can even come home.

I cant work, cant ride, cant even play with my atv the way you guys are. I sucks when you have to hop along with two walking sticks under your armpits.

I guess thats why I am the way I am at this time. Anyway, good luck in finding the right belt.

Buck up little camper! We'll beat that slope together.

Truly a sight to behold. The man beaten. The once great champ now a study in moppishness.

LOL.

(Who knows what movie those are from?)

Just trying to make you laugh KOD.

Hope you heal up fast. I told you about my surgery ordeal last year... I know how you feel.

As DWB & I work out details for testing the new batch of belt sizes, a few question come to mind... the belts will be wider... this will put preload on the primary spring... so, even with the stock spring, it is going to act like the red spring ( stall ), unless we find a shorter spring, or take the temper out of the stock spring, or the idea I'm leaning towards, is to trim the additional belt thickness off the spring... I'm thinking that I want to keep the stock ingagement on both springs, for initial testing... the secondary spring will need to be longer, so a spacer could be added, to add the additional length needed... unless anyone had any better suggestions

the testing should at this point, should be for top end only, as the springs & weights could be adjusted later to restore an inintial lost acceration... keep the ideas coming, we are one step closer to atleast more efficient use of our existing CVT...thanks...WAM

A wider belt will not put preload on the spring. It will only take up some of the belt neutral side gap,if anything lowering the stall. Yhe moveable sheave will still snap out against the spider on disengagement, leaving the initial load on the spring at the same length and pressure.
The flyweights we have produced have holes in them to acheive the proper total mass,as well as the proper distribution of mass for general use of a KFX 7 . Interesting enough, the holes are about the same size as necessary to accept a rivet (like Yamaha uses on its oem snowmobile flyweights.) They will be ready in a couple weeks. With flyweights, everyone always talks grams, but distribution of the mass can change total mass.

And I thought "I" was supposed to keep my mouth shut... lol.

I think (hope) the worst case scenario, with the wider belt, is that the machine walks a little at idle. I guess we'll see.

Helix,

Are you willing to borrow a set to the cause for testing and eval? We are ramping up for some more test runs in two weeks.

PM me if so.

spring in the rear (secondary) should be shorter or weaker. maybe back to stock??

spring in the front (primary) should be ok. The primary can't open any more than is does now.

Both might be ok to start with.

engagement will be harsher, as a wider belt can't get to bottom primary. another reason why belt should be longer.

DWB; your right it probable will walk on idle.
