Default k&n filter and jetting question

if i order the k&n filter do i need to adjust my jetting at all or will it be fine? also im at a higher elevation now, rapid city south dakota, so im not sure what the elevation is here, just probably a lot higher than usual. if so, what kind should i get and do i need any special tools to install them? would it be hard? thanks!

Default k&n filter and jetting question

Looks like your elevation is 3247 FT. according to my road atlas. I am at just over 6000 ft here in Cheyenne. With just a filter change I dont believe you will need to rejet. If you do airbox mods and maybe an aftermarket exhaust you will probably want to do something with the jetting. But just a filter, I dont think so. You are running a little rich being at your altitude now, so you may just bring it down to a good level. Good Luck.

Default k&n filter and jetting question

Are you getting rid of your air box? I did. I found that with just the K&N filter I used a stock #155 jet at my alt. It was a little rich. I do sugest getting the DYNO JET KIT it realy makes a difference. With the dyno jet kit and an FMF power core 4 pipe I'm useing a #146 jet. Keep in mind that the Dyno jet kit has a diffenent #'ing system than the stock carb so they don't line up. For a stock jet I would probaly use a #160. No special tools are needed but I do sugest a SNAP-ON phillips screw dirver or you will strip all of your screws on the carb. I Also would dip the screw driver in a grinding compund to get a better grip. good luck.
