also when dealing with a house circuit its alternating current not direct curent like whats on an atv, you cant compare ac to dc in instances like this its completly different things.

i don't recall going over ohm's law in high school, and i understand that ac/dc are two totally different worlds. dc is almost always used for low voltage. i.e. fire alarm. and dc cannot be bumped up or down, as far as voltage goes.

power=amperage x restistance squared refers to power, line loss. if you lower the voltage then amps will go down, more resistance= less amperage. current is directly proportional to voltage and inversaly proportional to resistance.

OK ... OK... you guys have spouted out about 1/4 of the formulas needed to be an electrical engineer...LOL... RAMMY... you don't say how big your winch is, but I'm sure that any normal ( sealed ) winch switch, should work... buy a good one, if you want it to last, as the winches pull more juice than most of the switches you could purchase at Radio Shack...WAM

newbeatle,

my winch is a 2000 superwinch. the big square plastic switch that came w/ it only lasted about 3 months. that why i was asking about maybe trying something different because i dont want to pay $40 or $50 every 3 months or so. sorry nyroc and sparx, i didnt mean to start a **** fight!!!!!!!!

nyroc & sparx,

i just went to superwinch.com and they show that the atv2000 superwinch has 118 motor amps. i hope that settles your argument!!!!
