Prairie 400 ??
What is nyrocs website? I haven't owned this thing very long so I really don't know much about it, or the normal quirks and problems prairies may have. I appreciate your input on the linkage, that was my first guess but I didn't have time to check it out today, probably wouldn't know what to look for anyway. lol

I have a 98 Prairie 400 4x4 and I had the same problem with shifting until I had the clutch serviced, there was a recall on the belt,so while it was at the dealers for the recall I had it serviced and the clutch weights were worn(due to poor maintenance on my part),riding in mud too many times and not cleaning the clutch area out from dust and other debris!!! I think you bought a great machine.

P400 isnt quite a 650 or 700 but is a heck of a reliable machine. My shifter was sticking until I cleaned and lubricated the linkage really good, lots of sand and muck build up, the button felt like it was sticking and now it doesnt. Probably not that big of deal. I have heard that if you get lazy and dont push the button in all the way when shifting, that you will wear it out faster. could be crazy, but I now make a habit out of mashing it in all the way.

Read the directions on the shifter. I had the same problem until I read this. You can shift from neu. to drive and back with out pushing the button on top. To place it in rev. you need to push the button. Sounds simple but all I could say was Duahhhhhhhhhhhh. If you try to shift pushing the button when you do not need to it will not go. Try it.

It took me a time or two to figure that out, and anybody new who hops on my bike can never figure it out. The directions are covered with the camo on mine now anyhow. I allmost never use high, im allways running in low or reverse. I wish low was beside high like on the mules and not past it.
