Default 400ex-mojave carb swap

Just curious if anyone on here had ever tried using a 400 ex carb on a highly modded mojave, I like the fact that it has an accelerator pump. that should make the bottom end much more responsive, and I do believe that the bore is 1mm larger than the mo carb, which should help the top end as long as the intake velocity does not decrease. Any thoughts?

I have done this mod and it works great. I removed the choke from the 400ex carb for a little more flow and installed it on a modded mojave and it worked better than the 38 mm keihin that i had on it before. The ex carb is actually 1.5 mm bigger. It is a 35.5 mm carb. The pump makes it crisp on accel.

Does the motor need to be modded for this conversion, or can you make the carb swap with a stock motor?? I've got a 2002 Mojave with a SuperTrapp IDS2 (quite core) exhaust and six UNI filter air box vents. Would I be able to implement this change and make it work??

It should work ok on that setup. I cant really remember a stock mojave, its been so long since I had one, and have not tried it on one. You really dont need a bigger carb, what you need is one with an accel pump. But the 400ex carb is only 1.5mm bigger so you can probably gain the advantage of the pump without losing too much of the bottom end due to the bigger carb.

I need to know what to look for, or order though. Is it a Mikuni or a Keihin?? I know it's 35.5mm, but that's all.

just look for a used one on ebay. They are on there all the time. I bought mine for 40 bucks on ebay. Most of them on there have the cable with them. You will need a carb and cable from a 400ex and it is much easier if you change to a honda thumb throttle. The thumb throttle can be from a 400ex, 300ex, 250x, or 250r. You can find it all on ebay.

too slow right now. I am getting frustrated because I can not get enough time to work on it. Hope to have it done by Thanksgiving, Christmas at the latest. I will post new pics little later.
