Default Snorkel mod = The V was Flying Today

Had 2 Banshees wanting a piece of the V today.
My brother doesn't take losing well so he put a set of V-Force reeds and a Trinity 35mm 2-into1 carb on his 2000 Banshee. It was running so well he has been talking trash all week even though I was spanking him last time we lined them up. All I had to fight back with was a spring change to the HPD plain and my K&N finally came in. I didn't think that would be enough, so I started messing with a dual snorkel setup. I added a second snorkel and routed it up high to the top of the hood where I could get a ram-air effect from the vents I'd cut into the hood. I was getting so much more air in that it was cutting out at full throttle. I started out with 138/142 jets and couldn't get it to run at full throttle until I'd run out of jets at 152/155, so I still may be a little lean. When I finally could open it up, I figured I had enough now to deal with him and his buddy who also has a 2000 Banshee.

My brother's has FMF Fatty's, Prodesign Coolhead, V-Force reeds, Trinity 2-into-one 35mm carb and a K&N. 260lb. rider.
The other Banshee had Pro Circuit Platinum pipes, Prodesign Coolhead, Trinity Stage IV 33mm carb and a K&N. 210lb. rider.
My V has the Alien duals, HPD plain spring with 3 shims, K&N and airbox mods. 250lb. rider.

If I got a perfect full-throttle start I was pulling him by 3+ quads every time in an approx. 250yd. race, and he was beating his buddy by 1 to 1 1/2 quads. On lesser starts I could still pull him by 1-2 quads, never saw him at all in any race. He finally conceded that he couldn't catch me after I was holeshotting him, so he wanted to try again from a rolling start. We drew a line and started about 10 yards behind it and idled up to the line before we punched them and I still pulled him by 2 quads. I didn't even have to talk any trash because the rest of the guys we ride with were doing it for me. I wouldl have liked to have seen what the results would have been if I had left the airbox alone, but I didn't want to risk losing and hearing about it all week. I've got to believe the extra snorkel was good for a few extra HP.

And for those dealing with the weak tie-rods, I slammed a big tree root hard enough to rip the bars out of my hands. The last 2 times I did that the tie-rod looked like an egg, but this time it held up just fine with the pipe welded over it.

I still have a Hotseat blue spring to test, but it was running so well I almost hate to fool with my setup.

Great news Kevin I had great results against my raptor rivalry with hpd silver/gold spring. Man was he shocked.

I did a snorkel mod as well. I drilled out the front of the airbox as well as the baffel plate just behing the snorkel. I then picked up some fittings and pipe from a central Vacumn cleaner shop. The pipe is thin walled 2 inch o/d and fits right into the stock rubber mount.. I installed a 45 degree fitting into the rubber mount, ran a 3.5 inch staight pipe then capped it with a 45 degree fitting opposite to the base fitting so it point straight forward giving the ram air effect. I dry fit it together so I can swivel the snorkel up if it is raining hard. I covered the end with an SLP snow screen that stops water but not air. Prob similar to an outerware. I then had the depressions cut out of the black plastic "nose" on the front (thanks Alltoys) to allow more air to flow into the pickup. I have enough pipe left over for a second snorkel which I will try this weekend at Alltoys place.

Also, Alltoys machined my clutch faces, drillout the primary cover, shaved every second air vain down on the back of my primary and machines the needles for a smoother transision versus the blunt end on the stock needles.

The end result is an astonishing 16 MPH increase on GRAVEL!!!. I will have my Dalton weights with a bunch on rivits and some better shims for the secondary and it is off to Alltoys on Sat for some tuning and testing on the radar gun. I believe with the K&N and the clutch fully dialed in, I can hit 20 MPH over my starting point

Then after all that, with Alltoys vast knowledge THE NEW CDI!!!!

If only all of us could live near Alltoys.

Propolaris, with just the K&N you might have to go up one jet size higher but I'm not positive because I added the K&N and the snorkel at the same time. I'm sure it flows way better than the stocker, plus you can get rid of the screen

04vforce, go ahead and switch to the plain, you should get better results. The V-Force has 1 shim with the stock spring, it looks like a large washer and fits under the primary spring. You can add up to 3 before you risk binding the spring and they will raise the engagement and shiftout points of the spring you're using.
