Hey Stakk...choke spring ?
When you put the springs...(92081-1720) did you still use the stock cable? I was in Nyrocs site and he had the stock number, a stronger one with a diff number and this one.I read somewhere in there that people believe you should replace the cable also because it was too short???? Thanks

The 2002 P650 choke springs are notoriously crappy. Replace them with choke springs out
of a '94 KLR 650 and your problem will be solved. The part number for the KLR springs
is 92081-1720. They are about 1/4 inch longer than the stockers and are way stiffer.
Smartens the chokes up right quick. Remember to order 2.
I did not change the cables on mine ...... the spirngs were enough ......... hope this helps

Yeah that helps.I tried to adjust my carbs tonight and I could run the frt one all the way in and it actually ran better. You can smell gas at idle and it's rough so I know it's rich.I looked on buykawasaki.com and saw the springs.Stakk gave me the number a while back I just was not clear on the cable. Thanks

I would get the cable...but that's your call, I don't think it's real expensive, maybe 25 bucks, plus the updated one for the 03' model, is longer, has better adjustment to it and is better sealed to keep out moisture, get the cable, have the dealer lube it before you put it in, put the springs with it and you should'nt have any more problems......

I am just going to do the springs now.I did take it apart today to get the old ones out.The new springs should be in next week. There was no doubt the front one was not returning the plunger. Is the front one usually the problem? and is this the one some people say was short?
The rear seems to work fine and I think with a stronger spring the frt should too.No doubt the springs are pretty sorry and weak.

Thats a possibility, the thing is this ran fine when I first got it and then developed the rich condition. The cable being short does not make sense because it should have been short from day one.I believe the spring replacement is the correct path. Now if they just come in this week like the dealer said they should.Even though this is an 02 I just got it 6 months ago.It was a leftover. The dealer said he ordered 5 camos and could not hardly get rid of them so it's not like I have had this a long time.I think I will check when I get the springs to see if they have a cable in stock.........maybe I will just get one then since I took this damn thing apart and be done with it......if not it's just getting the springs LOL

Well I got the springs in tonight and I have to admit this is DA BOMB.This thing starts better than it EVER has. Before I always had to get it just a touch of throttle but not now.I guess it was always flooded.I adjusted the pilot screws and it idles 100% better. Thanks for the info,I would highly recommend the KLR springs.By the way I did use the old cable.
