Default Rocket Joe’s Ram Air for V Force = HP+

Ram Air

Used 2 ˝” wet dry vacuum hose $18.00 (RIDGID part # VT2507 phone number 1-800-4-RIDGID) from Home Depot. Cut 1” or so off the one end and attached it to the existing air box (fits perfect) and ran the other end out the front of the V as seen in photo 1 (my profile). I drilled a few holes in the lowest part of the hose for water to drain out. I did have to go up a few jet sizes, but it works great and has a noticeable power increase.

I have seem the same thing, it was made of stainless, flex hose with a triangle crome peice on very front, came out on the front drivers side. looked good, and the bike would fly.

Has any one tried this yet?

Just for an experiment I remover it and put the stock duct back… felt a lot slower and the throttle was not as responsive. After putting the ram back on (60 sec) everything is back to normal.

The Ram Air brings fresh cool air in from the front of the bike.

RocketJoe...

I've done pretty much the same thing with my V and noticed that when I'm cruzing at 1/4 throttle and give it gas, it hesitates before taking off. It's not a big deal, but I was wondering if you have experienced the same thing. I tried going up a few jet sizes but did not make any difference. If I put the origional snorkle back on, it's fine. Any ideas?

vtwiner,

It is important that the snorkel dia is no smaller then 2 ˝” and is unrestricted. A scoop or even a screen covering the end of the snorkel dramatically decreases its performance. I have a Dial-A-Jet to help richen out the lean spots. I run a 143/145 jet combo.

Thanks man!!!

I have a thin cover acting as a pre-filter on the end of the hose. Thats probably the problem. I'll try the V without the cover tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks again...

I won't say I had that idea first, but I've been running dual snorkels for a long time.

Kevin M,

I do admit your photos did to some extent inspire me to develop Rocket’s Ram Air. The main difference is that I only use a single inlet mounted in the front of the V Force. By no means am I discrediting your design you have proven yourself on this forum and your knowledge fare exceeds my own.
