V-Force Handling Question
#1
I finally bit the bullet and upgraded to an 04 Kaw 700 V-force. So far i really like it, but considering my previous 2 or 3 quads handling characteristics this Kaw seems to be very different.
Though it has tons of power i find that when im on a hard pack off camber type trail...one with a hump in the center. The quad seems very unstable at higher speeds as it seems to overreact to hitting the off camber spots and it can pretty much at times give you white knuckles trying to hold on to the thing. I would not call this bump steer in my opinion...it just seems to really move around alot at higher speeds and does not feel as stable and straight (true) as your hot footing it along. My Yamaha Warrior and The Raptor, and a few others i have ridden do not exhibit this weird handling. Once on the soft trails their is no problem in its handling. I had the front tires at 5 lbs....dropped it to 3 lbs and it improved enough to make a difference.
If anybody has any thoughts on this i sure would like to hear them as i am kinda baffled.
Thanks

The sides of the front tires are too aggresive. Swap them for another tire or cut the lugs off the sides of the tires. I put 4ply Holeshots on mine and the bumpsteer went away. Before this I tried everything including a steering stabilizer and nothing worked.

Doc-
I like the realters quite a bit. We ride on a varity of terrians so its nice to have something kinda versatile. They work well on hardpack, mud, and soft dirt. They are directional so you can change the tires for dirt or a more agressive reversed bite. Not a real sand tire though, but good enough all purpose set-up. I would recommend putting some sealant in them for the fact that there only a 4 ply tire. Hope that helps ya out some, and yes I'd buy them again.

Thank's Mudfoot
I was looking for some versatile tire's cause here in Georgia it rain's alot and when it does this red clay turn's to goo but it is hard as concrete when it hasn't rained in a couple of day's. About a month ago was trail riding and it hadn't rained in like 2 week's and on this trail there ussually is a lot of mud when it rain's but it looked fairly solid you know the ground was all cracked up on top but once I got on it I realized that only about the top inch or two was solid and there was about 6" of mud underneath it and those holeshot's are not worth a d@mn got stuck had to get off while a friend gassed it and pulled it out by the bumper.

Thanks so much for the input. I did check the toe in...it has 5/8" toe in with an empty seat. The front and rear shocks are all set at their softest setting. I'll keep experimenting and see what i can do.
Thanks again for the help !!!
