Default 100 MPH+ by changing gears?

Kawi lists the Bevel Gear as a 35-tooth part#49022-0004 and Comp (Pinion) Gear 8-tooth part# 13216-0002 same for both V and P.

Questions

Can we change the rear gears in V and P?
Can we just change the 35 tooth or do gears always have to be in a set?
Is there anything out here from some other bike that will work?
Feel free to give me a 101 in gears something I know little of.

They have to be changed as a set.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease. If you and a bunch of people squawked, someone would start making it if you wanted it.

It seems the only thinkg I can make are the things that half of the people on this forum can make themselves anyway. I wish I could make cool stuff for ATV's.

Nyroc,

Who do you think I should solicit to manufacture a set of custom gears?

Is there such thing as a custom gear company?

Gosh, I think there are so many companies out there that could do this, that it would take a minor amount of work to search throught them and find one that some that would, and yet more work to choose between the ones that would.

If you talk to high l i f t e r , you may find that the people that make the unlockers might have the capability of making the gears.

I think that is waht he was talking about, per the part numbers on kawi's website. If they get the ring and pinion done for just the rear of the V, it won't work for us prairies. If they got the bevel gears in the tranny, it would work for us 4x4's

Not that I want to go faaster than the unlimter will take me.

Shotgun, what do you think about that cam-damper system that is on the 2002 and 2003 prairie. You can find it on buykawasaki, look at an 02 or 03 and click on "FRONT BEVEL GEAR", it is part number 13048-1088. Here is a shortcut to the prairie parts diagrams

It doesn't look like the 2004 prairie has one from the parts diagram. I am now jealous of the 04.

I hate that crappy cam damper. It makes my drivetrain oscillate while I am driveing in deep snow or heavy mud.

If there was one reason for me to trade up to a 700, that dumb damper might do it.
I don't need any more power.
I don't need a belt light on my dash.
I could get the bumpers if I really wanted them.
I could mod my rear shock.
I could not care any less about the difference between the 02 KEBC and the 03 and 04.
I can get a 700 belt if I want. I think the 2002 pulleys are superceded by the newer ones anyway.
I already upgraded my airbox.

However, that cam-damper would be kinda hard to replace.

Oh well, maybe it doesn't bug me all that much. If it aint broke, don't ...
