Default Prairie 650 -or- 700 overheating

I have a 2004 Prairie 700. I have been having a real problem with the bike overheating. My brother and my cousin both have Prairie 650s, and both of them have been having issues with overheating as well. I went today to ride at a local ATV trail, and talked to two other people (1 with a 650, and one with a 700), and both of them are having overheating problems as well. I am wondering if anyone else is having these same types of issues.

Thanks,

Jon Terrell

I had that problem last weekend with my AC 650. We were just cruising around doing 10 MPH, and the engine would get super hot (to the point if you took your thumb off the throttle, it would stall). It seemed like the fan wasn't kicking in soon enough.

My guess is there's something wrong with the thermostat switch for the cooling fan.....

It may be just mud in your radiator. Hitting it head on (through the grill) with a power washer will not get it all out. It may look clean from the front but chances are there is still mud on the back side of the radiator. There’s a plastic panel (on the P650 anyway) you can get access to under the front fender. Take this off and you can get a garden hose in there (at the back of the radiator) and really rinse it out good. I have a friend with a P650 and this is a common problem. When we go for a multi day ride and there’s mud on the trail, he has to thoroughly clean out his radiator before the next day’s ride or he will have over heating issues.
