You've got a new, completely stock Prairie 650. What are you gonna improve on first? Tires? Suspension? Skid Plates? Winch? Dare I say.......the powerplant?

Thats a tuff question..where do we begin! I replaced the skid plates first...stock skid plates were in bad shape(alot of field stones hidden in tall grass), but I think overall, better tires under that awesome power....

diamond G 714-773-4755. Tell Don Haynes sent you (maybe I get a discount one day)

The installation instructions is as follows:

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS (Prairie 650)
(Read directions carefully. Incorrect wiring may cause damage to the device and ATV components)

1. Make sure the Ignition Switch is OFF and the Stop Switch is in the STOP position.

2. Remove the seat and locate the Igniter Unit. (Black box located nearest the storage compartment. The 2002 Model has two connectors, and the 2003 Model has three connectors).

3. Using a 558 Tap Connector, place the Igniter's Yellow with Red Stripe wire into the Run Channel (Channel with an entrance and exit), and place the Holeshot Device’s Red wire fully into the Tap Channel (Channel with an entrance and no exit). It is not necessary to strip any wires. Using slip joint pliers or other suitable tool, press the connecting blade flush with the connector surface and snap the latch closed on the connector.

4. Using the remaining 558 Tap Connector, connect the Igniter's Black with Yellow Stripe wire (Run Channel) to the Holeshot Device’s Black wire (Tap Channel) using the same technique as described in step 3.

5. Locate the Igniter's Pink wire and cut it halfway between the Igniter and the Harness Bundle.

6. Using the 557 Pigtail Connector, place the Holeshot Device’s Violet wire fully into one of the connector entrances and place the Pink wire (The one attached to the Igniter) fully into the other entrance of the connector. It is not necessary to strip any wires. Press the connecting blade flush, and snap the latch closed.

7. Tape the end of the Pink wire (The one coming from the Harness Bundle) and secure it with a Cable Tie.

8. You may wish to test ride the ATV at this time. See the Holeshot Operation and Warning Notes below. For static testing of the Holeshot Device, see the Holeshot Static Test procedure on the back of this sheet.

9. Tape each 558 Tap Connector from end-to-end extending 1/2" beyond the ends to keep out water and dust, and secure each end of the tape with a Cable Tie to prevent flagging under extreme conditions.

10. Tape the 557 Pigtail Connector from end to 1/2" down the wire and secure the tape with a Cable Tie.

11. Use the remaining two Cable Ties to secure the Holeshot Device.

12. Check for sufficient clearance and reinstall the seat to complete the installation.

MAKING THE HOLESHOT DEVICE SELECTABLE: To make the Holeshot selectable, simply use a SPDT (Single-Pole Double-Throw) switch. Connect the Pink wire (The one attached to the Igniter) to the center terminal of the switch, the Holeshot's Violet wire to one of the outside terminals, and the remaining Pink wire (from the Harness Bundle) to the other outside terminal. This configuration will allow switching between the Stock and Holeshot mode.

HOLESHOT OPERATION NOTE: The Holeshot device was designed to provide maximum power on demand and to retain good riding characteristics under normal conditions. The Holeshot device will provide maximum engine power upon the application of full throttle while running with a vehicle speed of less than 3 MPH. With the continued application of full throttle, this additional power will remain in effect up to about 20-25 MPH. After this point, the engine power will return to stock levels. Prior to reaching 20-25 MPH, the engine power will also return to stock levels if full throttle is released for more than one second. It must be re-enabled at speeds below 3 MPH and is especially effective from a dead stop. The Holeshot Device does not reduce the stock upper RPM and vehicle speed limits.

WARNING: Use caution when accelerating with the Holeshot Device in operation. This Device causes a considerable
increase in engine power and torque. Excessive wheel spin, “wheeling”, and subsequent loss of control can occur. This is a Performance Enhancement Device and is intended for use by experienced riders wearing proper safety equipment.

HOLESHOT KIT FOR KVF-650 (PRAIRIE)

Quantity Description

1 Holeshot Device
2 3M 558 Tap Wire Connectors
1 3M 557 Pigtail Wire Connector
8 6" Black Cable Ties
1 20 ft. of 3M Super 33+ Tape
1 Instruction Sheet

HOLESHOT DEVICE STATIC TEST
(This test can verify that the Holeshot is operating, without test riding the ATV)

1. Check that the Holeshot is properly installed.

2. Turn the KEY switch ON, and set the STOP switch to the RUN postion. (You do not need to start the ATV).

3. Using a voltmeter set for measuring DC volts, measure the voltage between the Holeshot’s BLACK and RED wires. This voltage should be between 11 and 13 Volts. If the voltage is not present, verify that the KEY switch is ON, the STOP switch is set to the RUN postion, check for good connections, verify that the ATV’s battery is in good condition, and check for a bad fuse. If this voltage is correct, proceed to the next step.

4. Using the voltmeter, measure the voltage between the Holeshot’s BLACK and VIOLET wires. This voltage should be between 2 and 3 Volts. If this voltage is correct the Holeshot Device is working properly.

5. If the ATV is not responding to the Holeshot Device and passes step 4, check for a bad connection between the VIOLET and PINK wire and verify that this PINK wire is the one attached to the Igniter, not the one coming from the Wiring Harness. Also read the Holeshot Operation Note to insure that the method of “engaging” the Holeshot Device is fully understood. Adequate traction is essential for testing Holeshot operation and excessive wheel spin can conceal the added power effect.

I can't remember, is it a 360 or 700 belt that you install that is supposed to give you a little better power? Is this belt just as reliable on a 650 as is the normal, OEM 650 belt?
