I have an '02 650. I took it out in the snow yesterday for a quick ride and noticed a lack of power at middle to full throttle and a "clacking" sound coming from the airbox area. The bike is kept in a heated garage and I warmed it up outside for about 30 minutes before the ride. I used the choke at first (when warming it up) and backed it off as it warmed up. The bike idles fine and runs great at low throttle (in a residental area) but when I got on it, it sucked for power! As I was coming home I slid the choke lever over while riding and the noise and lack of power went away.... am I running lean? do I have a sync problem?? is this somthing that can be fixed w/ an adjustment???

Sounds like your choke springs. You can replace them with springs out of a '94 KVR? (I think it's a KVR?)650 I believe. Make sure you order 2 springs.

 

I have heard of people using a spring out of pens , the click pens. hey it worth a look . and cheap too.
