Elka strut I emailed this seller on ebay the following question. Is the strut and spring included in this sale? They responded The spring is not included just the strut.

Guys,
I talked to Elka directly today and they do NOT manufacture a strut for the Prairie. Their "Strut Kit" consists of 2 springs, a reversable bushing, the top and bottom pieces, 2 allen wrenches, and an adjustment tool. It is designed to fit over the existing stock strut. They have no plans to sell a complete strut. I payed $205.00 plus $35 for shipping. The unit looks nice and I am anxious to try it. I do however feel misled by the pictures that everyone seems to have of the springs installed on the factory strut. They mislead you into believing that you get the strut with the kit.

well I imagine if you had different struts just the dampening and rebound would change. But by all the threads I've read here, people seem pretty satisfied with just the Elka Dual rate spring kit, can't expect a ton for $225. Sounds worth it to me, I'm ordering asap.

Yamihoo,
The spring kit that I got is machined very nicely and I expect that it will make a big difference on how much my front end dives in hard corners and/or fast braking. I will try to get it installed in the next few days and put out a report.

FastEd,
Yes, I wasn't referring to the springs. Correct, the springs will improve diving and corner handling, I was commenting on Timo's wondering what the strut would change vs. just the springs.
Looking forward to hearing about your opinion on them FastEd

Well,
I just finished installing the Elka Spring kit on the stock struts. I am glad a friend of mine was helping or there would have been no way for me to compress the springs to remove the old ones and install the new ones. Even with the pre-load on the Elka's set as light as possible, it was a bit** to compress the springs enough to slip in the retaining ring. I have the pre-load set about 1/4 inch below max and will test at that point to see how it works with me new ITP All Trail tires. I still have to replace the rear axel oil seals now before I can give it a test ride. It sucks that Kawi makes you buy the entire right axel case end, bearing, oil seals, and O-ring as a kit. Though upon taking the oil seals out I realized the new ones will not fit unless you remove the bearing. I will keep everyone posted.

Fast Ed, I am really curious how your new springs will work on your bike. Let us know if it cuts out the front end diving.
Good luck with the install. Did you take any pics of the install to post Fast Ed?
