P700 rims ?
#1
I recently order a set of ITP Delat X wheels for my P700. I wanted to go with the C-series wheels, but needed/wanted black rims since my machine is hardwoods camo. I thought the ITP polished C- series rims would make me look like a pimp on a camo praire. Anyway I though the c-series wheels came in a black powder coat (I have seen them on the internet). Finally, I found out that a company called MTA purchases the wheels from ITP and then MTA powder coats them and re-sells them. My dealer called them and they can get me the wheels, but the problem is my Delta X wheels came in. They want to charge me a re-stock fee (actually shipping since they don't want them as they would go back to ITP).
My questions are: the delta x wheels are steel which are heavier. ITP said the Delta X wheels weigh 16 lbs/wheel while the c-series weighs ~9lbs/ wheel. I plan on mounting a set of ATR's on them. Will the extra 7lbs/wheel hurt my performance enough to notice/feel it? Secondly, has anyone seen either of these wheels? If so does the powder coat c-series look nice? Do the delta x wheels look nicer to justify the increase of weight?
My dealer treats me well and I will try to negiotate the re-stock fee. The gave me a great deal on the rims- $224 for the delta X and ~ $240 for the black powder coat c-series wheels. If I cancel the delta x wheels and have to pay the return shipping it will cost me $50-$60 more to get the c-series- total $275 w/ re-stock fee. Is it worth the extra money for the c-series? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Guz

I have no doubt you'll feel the extra 28 lbs. of unsprung weight. I recently changed from Bighorn Radials to bias-ply, and the handling and steering response was amazing. I suppose it depends on what style of riding you do.

Did you go back to the stockers- if not what bias ply tire? I heard the BH are good tires. Were they to heavy for your type of riding- specs on maxxis web page has a full set coming in close to 100lbs?

I would pass on the C-Series because as far as holding up in ruff terirran they DONT! unlike the Maxxis that I beleave only has a cast center (You might wanna look into? they might be a better choice?) The ITP's are full cast. This means that they dont give, They crack and if bent there is NO bending back. I lost two rims on one rock! One rim was total trash(Cracked), and the other just had a small bend but could not be fixed and wouldnt hold a bead so was trash also. Ive even seen the edges chip off and have had the bolts loosen up on mine and so has a buddy. Unlike reg. alum or even steel, Cast wheels are made from a mold like auto rims and I beleave really are not ideal for Off Roading. ITP makes a lot of good products but I would pass on this one! Your better off with them deltas. I own a set myself and some douglas beads and I think there fine for a steel wheel. I also run Maxxis radial BIG HORNS on both and really like the tires. You know Ive ridden for years and never though of balancing my ATV wheels?? I do a lot of fast riding over all types of that great Pennsylviania terirran and never even felt the wheels were out? and a reason to balance? owell Im always learning new stuff. I would try them out you can always sell them on ebay if you dont like them. ~Chris

fer as i know C-series have held up quite well but what the above post states is true. the C-series will not "give" they will simply bend or crack if pushed to far.
i'm going to go with steel wheels to save in cost and have a more durable wheel. Heck i run outlaws on my stock wheels so weight isn't an issue to me. I plan on a set of Bighorn Radials on ITP Magnum rims.

I think ITP discontinued those wheels. Are you referring to the ones that are steel (black or chrome), but weigh 6 or so lbs? I called and asked them and they said they stopped making them and the c-series has replaced the Magnum wheels. Unless you find a distributor who still has inventory of them. I could be wrong, but that is what the guy at ITP told me.
