I have read posts by Alltoys about four "Canadian boxes" at least. A Dale Brooks device with fours wires, one with a angle bracket, the Kunytec device, and the Nabor module. Are these all independent originals, I think not. The latest one is the Nabor module which looks the most like the DG Holeshot in the pics. I am not saying this is a bad thing. Competition always improves the product. Some of these designs change output under heated conditions, some output a higher voltage than they should, and some are too big or overly complicated in my opinion. I wish there were as many igniter choices as well. At least some of these people are trying that too. I hope they succede.

diamond g should be thanked for all their hard work and money spend, weather or not the unlimitor comes out, give credit where credit is due.

First time I ever heard of the a "black box" to use on the bottom end was Reds650's box, someone saw him on a trail and tried his bike, came back and posted, then the chase was on.

High Lifter has jumped into the mix, with a module that the dyno shows more power through out the power band. Dan, from High Lifter, say's "Here are the facts:The HL Power Pac Module makes just over 5hp at the bottom end,3.5hp in the mid-range and 1.5hp at the top.Power thru out the complete power band. These numbers were produced by a 650 Kaw.with stock tires and measured to the rear wheels with the latest automatic tranmisson software on our in-house Dyno.Module priced at $XXX.XX and available about Dec.30th.The Dyno tells the truth as to what this very unique product does.Power, power and more power."

I've read that highlifter's module is just one of the one's from Canada that has already been out and tested to be just like the rest. It is nice to get some dyno figures for these modules though. Highlifter had a few module makers bid for business, and then choose the lowest price. That usually isn't the way to get the best quality. I doubt if they pass the savings to the customers either.

Reds650,
Is correct, the ones from the US are copys a Canadian came out with it first. They have been in circulation for at least 6 months before the Holeshot came out. I must also say they're similar although Reds650's module and Naber's module are better than the rest. The one from HL will be the one that was originally sold by Freedom Cycle in Nova Scotia which has an origin in Quebec. You fine gentlemen owe thanks to the Canucks for building these things in the first place. One more thing these modules are only a Band-Aid affect they only give what the machine already has. Mind you some do it better, also I will never go back to a OEM cdi again there is no comparison what so ever. Its like going from a 500cc machine to a 650 machine there is that much difference in adapted ignitions. The modules help especially on the bottom end up to 30mph but there is no significant gain past that.

Alltoys, what kind of price tag is involved in using an "alternate" ignition?

Prairie633,
Here is the low down, unfortunately the price for adapted ignitions are from $400 US to $2000. Totally extreme yes I know but you can use them on other machines not just yours so a one time expense will last a long time. Apart from the expense is you will never go back to the OEM system again until you are ready to sell it!! I have 2 programmable ignitions they work very well the 3rd is not programmable but works better than the OEM system. I feel the ignition should only be limited by the person using it. In the past with points and condenser you could get the optimum of performance with little messing around. Then cam electronic ignitions they were ostracized by the old diehards but they had a strong viable performance gain. It came to pass who had the electronic stuff usually won. Then the automotive society saw a great way to influence the auto world with restrictions hence our useless cdi. This is not the only cdi that Mitsubishi has their fingers into they have cdi's in most of the quads and motorbikes in the world. Take a look at Honda, Polaris, Yamaha in quads, sleds you will see Mitsubishi emblem stamped on most of them. I have seen the chip in cross over brands for some time they have a large reserve, mass produced, one piece does all their price can't be beat. Myself I want a tuneable system because I guess I am less than %1 of ATV populace that wants to modify to the Maximus.

Vortex will soon have a new cdi to work on the V force will it be programmable or just a basic copy of the old cdi with higher rpm settings who knows. Will it work on the Prairie sure it will with a little modification of course it will work. This will be a cheaper plug in than trying to adapt another ignition probably less than half. What I like about the other ignitions is the better almost perfect spark with better spark energy plus they will maintain a near perfect spark at higher RPMs, a definite asset with respect to Nos, or blower technology. If you have ever seen a super charger leave a motor going down the 1/4 mile track it is not a pretty site, a proper system will help to prevent that. I can turn the key on push the start button and the machine starts almost instantly try that with the OEM system. Vortex will have the V soon looked after I can wager there will be one for the Prairie before long,.............just a little more patience it will come.
