I heard (somewhere, I can't recall) that the delay is because it doesn't work like they thought it would.
IMO, they had better hustle; there are alot of good ideas out there that will make more hp than they claim the "Unlimiter" is capable of.

methinks that an entire new CDI is going to have to be developed for the p650/700 to get the performance gains that people are expecting to get out of the unlimiter. I just don't see the stock CDI allowing the ignition to advance past 28*. to get the performacne some/most are craving you will have to go to 32* minimum. I don't think the stock CDI can be "tricked" into something it is not capable of.

cartman308, I think it used a remapping technique involving the engine pickup sensor, something about electronically doing what the offset key does. Alltoys can explain this better than I can. I've heard that the gains are not very substantial without changing the cams, at least for the price. MSD was hoping for easy drop-in power, but it only had a good effect on the low end with a stock machine. I think thats why they can't sell a $350 ignitor replacement when you can get the DG Holeshot for $99 and get 95% of the same gain. I don't think they will produce them for the few people that have a Prairie with cams and ported heads. Probably the best hope for us Prairie owners is when someone makes an ignitor for the V-Force.

FYI: I called DG racing today and they told me that the unlimiter is still in the works for the P650/700. As of today, they said they expect to be selling the unlimiter in mid-January. We'll see...

Everyone should cut Don some slack. He'll let us know when it's ready. If you can find something else in the interim buy it.
It's my understanding that they thought they were ready, placed the initial manufacturing order & then discovered that one unlimiter will not work on all bikes. You have to feel bad for the guy.

I have spoken with DG and their tech about the Unlimiter, they have had a few set backs but are still working on it. I'm not trying to start an argument here but my question for those of you who keep saying things such as""don't hold your breath"",,, do you have any idea just how complicated Kawasaki made their ignition for the Prairies????? I have spoken with several companys and people who have tried to create and or alter the ignition system, ***ALL *** have failed in one way or another! Ask Alltoys how many cdi's he has fried trying to alter them! The one response I get most from the people I talk with about making more power for the Prairies is""" WHY???,,, it's just a UTILITY quad,,, not a real race quad""""" Hmmmmm,,,, I argue a bit about it but usually I just shrug it off,,, mine is raced and has beat the crap out of several 2 wd sport quads but in the end they are right, it's just a utility quad and was never really intended to be an all out race quad! I guess my point here is just be happy there are a few(very few) companys out there like Diamond G Racing that are at least trying to help us gain all the performance we can get out of our Utility quads! Maybe they jumped the gun a bit anouncing the unlimiter before it was actually ready for the market and maybe it may never hit the market but I'd rather not have one if I don't know it's 100% perfect!
Like I said tho, at least they are trying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most companies will not give you info on products in developement for this very reason. There have been copies made of the Holeshot, and now several people are trying to make an unlimiter device using the same "virtual pickup sensor" technique. Someone called in to the DG tech with a holeshot question and asked some details about the unlimiter. The tech was just trying to be helpful, and the next thing you know, someone announces that they are working on a top end device using the same technology. I spoke with the tech the other night and he said that he is not telling anymore details about the unlimiter or any future products until they are stocked and ready to go. He said that he knows why most other companies have cut their losses and dropped the Prairie igniter project. He said people don't complain about MSD's saying for the last two years that their unit will be done in about 6 months, because that is all they will ever tell you. You will never get through to their engineers to ask any questions even if they ever release one. He also said that some people have to high of an expectation too start with. They want something that will only cost $200 and make a stock Prairie out pace a V-Force and run 80 MPH. He also said it is not easy getting insurance for this type of product to protect DG Racing. You can get away with making something accelerate quicker like the Holeshot, but when you sell something specifically to make an ATV go faster than the manufacturer designed it to go, you are opening yourself up to a lot of liability, especially with a "utility" quad. He said he has never seen any device before that was intentionally designed as tamper proof as the Prairie igniter, both in hardware and software.
