Default p700 vs. p650

Hi guys,

I have an opportunity to sell my p650 to a friend, then I could get the p700. I did a search and it doesn't seem like anyone lined them both up stock side by side. I need to know from 0-60 mph how many quad lengths the 700 would be ahead at the 60 mph mark. If it's only 1-2 lenghts I'll keep my 650. What's the answer.

Thanks Guys.

I might be wrong Jeff but My P700 in way faster on takeoff than My friend p650 and he's got a 2003 with stock tires while mines are 27 mudlites. Maybe it could help you. The belt is much better. We bought our at the same time and he didn't care much about the speed.

Are there other reasons that I'm not aware of to go to the p700. I know some of you went from a p650 to p700. What am I missing?

Don't realy know, myself, I went from a Rubicon 500 modified to a 550 to the 700 and there an incredible difference. I was going to switch last year but I'm so glad I've waited. Pluse the Warranty is awesome. 3 years from KAWY and the Dealers offered me 2 more years for $250 CDN. I learn from a dealership Who was trying to sell me 2002-2003 left over that they change the belt for the V Force Type belt and modified the clutch. I haven't modified my clutch and the takeoff is way better the the 2002-2003 or the Artic Cat powered 650 Kawy

Default p700 vs. p650

This week, I drag raced my '03 P650 (which is slightly modified and has 25 inch mudlites) against a stock P700 (all stock except for 26 inch mudlites). I am happy to report that I beat him out of the hole by 1/2 length and maintained it to about 20 or 25 mph. Then the P700 let off the gas b/c the ground looked too bumpy for him to continue racing me. We were on a grassy pipeline at the time. Since most of my clutch mods are simply stock P700 parts (belt/primary spring)...the main difference between our quads was that I have a holeshot module and he has 1 inch taller tires (but the same brand). I actually think the holeshot module is what made my quad faster than his out of the hole. I have to believe that the P700 would most likely catch up to me and/or pass me if we had gone farther before he let off the gas. But I really doubt that his P700 would leave me by several quad lenths! I do recognize that more cc's should mean more power/speed, so I'm quite sure the P700 would have beaten me out of the hole if he had the holeshot module installed.

My biggest concern about going up to a P700 is that I will have to take a big economic loss when I sell mine to buy the P700 (even if I sell mine on the market for a decent price!). That, plus I'm kinda hoping that Kawasaki will improve the P700 in the next year or so (EFI?). I also think that if you are fast trail riding with your buddies, the P650 should have no problems keeping up with a P700 (assuming rider skills are similar). Just my 2 cents.

Happy trails...

I have a 2002 650 and a 700. The 700 stock and the 650 with the holeshot and atr tires, my son on the 650 and me 0n the 700 the 700 by four lengths in 100 yds. With 26" mudlites on 700 the 650 would get the 700 by two lengths on the start and the 700 would never catch up. I weigh 170 my son weighs 140.
Riding both on the trail and the last two weeks in the snow the 700 has more torque. Goes much better in the snow, but I'm sure thats because of the mudlites. If any body is looking for a good snow tire the mudlites are the best I have ever seen I have to break trail for the 650. We were in 15" to 16" of snow with crust the bottom 6 inches. The mudlites were unbeliveable.

Mikey, like you I didn't want to take the economic loss unless there was a real good reason.

JDE700, It sounds like the Mudlites made a big difference in terms of slowing the 700 down. The height increase may have been the biggest factor in slowing the quad down by changing the overall gear ratio. Kind of like starting in second gear of a six speed car. Not really, but you understand what I mean.

Also, it sounds like if you both were stock and the 650 took off the module, there would be at least a 4 quad difference.

Thanks.

How durable are the Mudlites against scuffs and scrapes in rocking terrain?

650Pilot, So far my mudlites are not bad on Ruff terrain, ie: Rocky terrain and log stumpage etc... My friend drive his Grizz on the same terrain and puncture his Bear Claw a few times.

mtd Thanks for the reply. How much do your 27's slow down that 700?
