Warn 3.0ci on 03 P650

I have that set up. The dealer did the install for me when I bought my quad. As I recall, they had to re-order the mounting bracket kit b/c the wrong one was delivered. That being said, I don't think you have to modify the mounting area...just buy the correct mounting kit for it.
Good luck and happy trails...

I've got the 3000 on my 02 P650,and when I installed it I had to move the winch back with a piece of 1/4" plate between the mount and the winch or the Pos post on the winch would hit the frame on the quad(Even with the shim I had to "clearance"the frame a little to avoid contact).Love that winch though, pulls like mad.

I bought the multimount kit. They called back and said it would not fit the 3000, only the 2500. I asked what interfered and I found out that the carrier didn't fit the larger 3000. I told them to send it anyway. All I had to do was bend the tab down on one side of the carrier. No problem. I carry the winch on the back of the 650, and can move it to front. The biggest problem I have found is the disconnect connector for the power can be flaky. I am going to hard wire it and carry a wrench to remove the wires, if I need the winch on the front. It can be a paiin to switch it when your front end is under water and mud. The hole for the reciever pin can be difficult to find. It's always fun in the mud!!

On the 3.0.
NOTE: If using a Roller Fairlead be sure to put 2 washers between the winch base and the mounting plate on all four bolts or the right side winch housing will bind against the frame. This is easy to go un-noticed if you upgrade to the 3.0. These instructions only come in the Kawasaki promo winch kit.
As for the motor end you can rotate the brush housing to get the terminal post off your frame. There is another set of holes. It's tricky and if you lift the brush housing too high and let them dislodge it is a real pain to reinstall them. I did mine. When you remove the 2 bolts you have to pop the cover up just a tad to get the o-ring out of the tube so you can spin it. Any experianced ATV mech should be able to do it in short order if you are not comfortable with it.
As for the water resistance, if you dunk it, before putter her to bed run the winch out several feet and then back in. This will help dissapate any moisture in the unit.
