KFX400 or V-Force?????
#1
I was giong to buy a new quad. But I don't know if I want a KFX400 or a V-Force. I ride the trails, and around here on the farm. I also want to race a few harescramble races. I'm bout 5' 6 and 220lbs. I want something that has enough power for me, and I want it to have reverse, and have alot of speed and accel. There is some monster hills around here and I want it to pull me up them. I thought I would ask you guys in here because I seen a bunch of you guys in here have either a KFX 400 or a V-Force. I ride in wide open fields also. Thanks fo your help.

Hey Man, I just bought a KFX400 about a month ago....And all I can say is WOW!!! I am 6' 220 and the KFX400 has plenty and I mean plenty of grunt......I have never ridden a v-force but from what I am hearing they are bad azz....But it is an auto tranny and it weighs 500 lbs. it is a monster........I went for the 400 because I wanted the clutch and a very light weight bike......

For the kind of riding you want to do it sounds to me like you would get a lot out of the V. The KFX-400 is going to do all that, but the V is going to do all that all day. If you wanted to jump or do MX, the KFX would be a great choice, but for trails and trail races the V is going to be fantastic and take a lot less out of the rider. I did an all day riding tour on my V in Mexico at a pretty fast pace over hard and soft trails with my brother on his DS-650 Baja X and another buddy on a 400 and at the end of the day, the 400 rider (who was in great shape to begin with) was way more beat up than me or my brother. The 400 was exhausting on a long day. At the end of the day we went to a dune area on the beach... all 3 quads did great in the dunes even without paddles, but I was riding while they were resting. The V is the Lexxus of sport quads.

If you notice my signature, I own both. I like to ride my KFX400 in the dunes, because I am a big guy, and like to screw off and throw it around. However, the V will do everything easier and with more speed than the 400 will. Sand, Dirt, it doesn't matter. After I got my 700, I will NEVER ride my 400 in the woods or on trails again. There is NO comparison. The V is more powerfull, has a better Center of Gravity, and has more Ground Clearance than the 400 and is a H*LL of a lot easier to ride.
Don't let anyone tell you that Shifting a quad makes you more of a Man. It's hard to feel Macho when you are picking Dirt out of your teeth from trying to keep up with the KFX700 out on the trails. I ride with a variety of different makes and models of ATV's, and the only reason I might get tired on a ride is from helping everyone else get un-stuck or pushing them up a hill. By the way, just about everyone of my buddies that have ridden my KFX700, wants one after just a few short minutes.
For the type of riding you are going to be doing, the KFX700 is truly the only choice as far as a 2WD Sport Quad goes. If I had to choose between my 400 and my 700, it would be NO contest.

The V-force is a great atv.I just don't like the looks of it.Looks like a big lawn mower from the front.

But come on it's not quite a sport quad..Though it may look like one it's specs speak for itself.
If you enjoy riding an automatic quad that is quite heavy I say great.
It's all about riding and having fun.
Also as far as keeping up on the trails..1 I don't race or care who is in front. 2. A quad that wide will not get through alot of the trails I ride as easy as a smaller quad.
I hope you enjoy which ever quad you chose!!

I have ridden both of them for several hours. You can whip around on the 400, it's easier to handle without a doubt. The 700 is what I bought because it's a more comfortable ride for me (6'4 220). It is heavy and handles like a pig (I think) but it does have power on demand (lots of power). They're both good bikes and the 400 was only $700 otd less. the V is NOT a utility quad it's just a big sport quad. the weight scares some people and I've tipped mine and ya know the truth is, anything that tips on you is gonna hurt. Luckily I pretty much got outa the way... What you really need to do is ride them both... I like them both.. I'm just a big guy and more comfortable on the big bike....

If it's Not a Sport Quad, then what is it? It's certainly not a Utility Quad.
It has a large powerfull motor. It has a single spar race inspired frame, the only production quad on the market with such a frame I might add. It comes with aluminum wheels and ITP Holeshots. Excelent brakes and to top it all off it was more than impesive in the GNCC Racing Series it's first year out.
It doesn't have 4WD. It doesn't have racks. The ONLY thing it has in common with it's utility counter parts is an auto trany.
I have the Sport Quad Rulebook right here in front of me, and nowhere does it say that a Sport Quad has to be a manual shift.
