Default kfx700 shocks

I do not own the 700 but my bud does, just figured someone where will know an answer to a question we had about this machine...

what is the best way to set... or go about setting the shocks on this machine???

Right now his setup definately is not correct, the machine bucks you when hitting any kind of jump etc and I actually went over the bars on it and flipped it on him....(supposedly from what I was told that was because I left off the throttle right at the tip of the jump and the engine break made the front end head downward and the back tires went over me)

I am clueless when it comes to this because I persaonally ride a utility and only have to worry about springs etc on my outlander... so I know nothing about the reservoirs etc or how to set them...

please respond

try setting some more preload in the rear shock. sounds weird but it helped mine with the Elkas.

How do you change them to the softest setting?? Is it like Rancho's on a truck... just twist something?? in my brief glance on mine it didn't appear to be quite as simple... Really bugs me too ... everyone passes me on the woops cuz I'm in so much pain from the thing bucking me ... even if the front wheel is off the ground lol

To set the rear its easiest to remove the shock. You then have to loosen the nuts from each other that hold preload on the spring. Then just tighten in some more preload, only a couple of turns at a time though, then try it. Dont forget to lock the nuts back together before reinstalling the shock. Fronts are easy to adjust, just spin the preload adjuster to where its comfortable for your riding. You can also adjust the compression on the rear shock with the screw located on the reservoir. Again, only a couple of clicks at a time then ride. Good luck.

So from what you said you mean set everything as "soft" as it will go and then keep "hardening" it up until it doesnt bottom out on you?? right?

--im not talking about big air doubles or anything like that either--- im talking just small whoops etc....

No. What I am saying is that alot of people take for granted pre-load. People often think more preload will just make the bike ride harder/stiffer. True, but it also sets the ride height for the weight of the rider which in turn will effect the way the bike handles the whoops. Like I have said before it worked for me, a buddy with a V and a few others on this board. Just for the hell of it try what I suggested, it cannot hurt. But, be prepared to stay on the throttle with the V in whoops. If you let off suddenly the bike is known for the buck. Just be ready for it or stay on the throttle till the end and it rides whoops great!
