bayou starter

Default bayou starter

does anyone know how to test the starter. my electric start button does nothing.

sigh.. same thing happens to me all the time in my bayou.. theres a plug under ur seat.. 2 ends put them together.. vwala it works!!!

if it just clicks ur battery doesnt have enuff juice.. buy another or trickle it... not tickle u idiots LOL

what is the shiftin pattern on the 1985 bayou 185. i just got it and the shifter is gone. it is a automatic.

in a bayou manual its 1-2-3-4-5-R but thats with my 99.. dunno about 85... isnt a auto one gear any way? if its not i never hear my prarie shift.. wierd

auto means no clutch but still shifting. is the pattern shift up or shift down.
also when i jump out the starte switch in the rear rhe starter turns over but the start button does not work i checked the conections under the seat and they are connected

no.. u said auto and i thought u ment AUTOMATIC if u mean auto-clutch say AUTO CLUTCH!! LOL... yes to shift to one two.. so on u lift up to shift down press down.. to go in reverse turn the thing on the left side and press down
then lift up to go to nutral or 1st

heres the shift pattern on my bayou.. (it has a sticker lol)

meaning lift up to shift from nutral to 1st second third.. press down to go 3rd 2nd 1st u get the idea

oh the button doesnt work? WIERD... hmm.. check the wireing for shorts.. happened to me once when i hooked a battery up backwards.. dont EVER do that.. smoke blew up in the air like a fuggin magic show LOL.. scared the crap outta me and i fried the wires... thank GOD the auxillery wires.. but it shorted out my starter and scared me lol

[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif[/img]i have a 1985 bayou 185, ran great than all of a sudden it stalled, started back up then when i got home stalled again, tried and tried to start it and could so i hooked it up to a battery charger or whatever and it just turned over then it wouldnt even do that i had no spart or no jucie from the battery, new battery,i was riding in the snow if thast helps any.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]

I had the same problem and it was not what I expected. THe bolt on the shifter side of the engine that has the large ground lug attached to the engine was not making a good connection. Removed the bolt and sanded all of the parts that were mounted ther and it has been good ever since.

For the shifting question from N all forward gears are up 1 to 2 then 3, 4, 5. From N twist the **** on the left of the steering column towards you while seated and press the shifter down for reverse.

Hope any of this helps out.
