rate on the prairie 360 4x4

We love ours but its a little slow and will bog down on very steep climbs. It is very capable. My wife loves it and only complains a little about the power. Lack of power is amplified by the fact we live and ride in colorado mostly around an average altitude of 10,000 feet so it loses power due to rejetting & lack of air. I have no idea how it compares to an outlander.

I rode one for a while, it did anything I asked of it and felt pretty good. Didnt have the power my P400 has, (and I still havent figured out why they quit making them...) But anyway, I really like the diff features it has too. The engine did vibrate more than im used to, but all in all a good ride for the money.
I also dont know anything about the outlander other than what ive read.

The Prairie 360 is a little under-powered for a 4x4 of it's weight.
In the 2x4 configuration it is a fun quad. Good handling and manuverability, and fast enough
for most ute riders.
IF you must have a 4x4, go at least 400cc. The Outlander would be a better 4x4 for this reason.

Interesting opinions so far. I would suggest you do a search on the Web for what the magazines thought, road tests, which I did, before I bought mine. It's strong, really has all the speed I'll ever want (I have no desire to pass a 18 wheeler on Route 17 with my quad, thank you), a real nice looking machine, goes up even steep trails without missing a beat, has an excellent ride, superior control and is extremely reliable. The KBS engine breaking system is probably the most sophisticated one out there.
I think you won't regret buying one, but I must admit, I'm biased. Don't take my word for it. Read the articles on Web.
Good luck in your decision!

I say I don't understand some of comments about getting at least a 400 4x4 , the 360 is really 362 cc's and almost all of the 400's out there are really 376 cc's . I'll admitt I don't know much about motor displacement and all that jargon but will 14 cc's feel ALL that different than 362 ? I've got a 2003 camo 360 with 26" 589's on it that thing will go anywhere I point it and I haven't done anything but oil changes in 600 miles so far.

There is a LOT more to engine size than just displacement. Comparing port sizes, carb sizes, exhaust pipe diameter, valve diameters, and compression ratios will show you why 14cc more can generate 3-4 hp more,
and make a world of difference in how a engine pulls up a hill or out of a mud hole.

Amen to the compression-- the 360 is just squeezing the air/ fuel to 8.3:1 whereas the 400 was going with 10.2:1. Stick yourself a 10.5:1 piston in there and the world will be a doffereint place. might even try 11:1- the mojave runs with 11:1 but that might be a bit high for regular gas and in an enging that won't be wound the PI$$ out of..........
