primary clutch question
#1
Just in the middle of installing a 700 primary spring and belt on my 650, found while cleaning up the primary clutch that the part that slieds in and out(not sure of proper name) has a bit of side to side play on the centre shaft of the clutch. it can be wiggled somewhat by hand, less so with the faceplate on, but still some movement. I'm wondering, is this normal or do I have worn bushings? Is this a common problem for the 02 650's that can be remedied by upgrading to a 700 clutch? Any insight is appreciated. Thanks.

Mike, I think I may be needing a new primary, also maybe a new secondary. The bushings in the secondary seem to be falling apart, can scrape grooves in them with my fingernail. I remember reading that you had replaced yours with a set of 700 clutches, was it both you replaced? Did you look into warranty? It seems like this could definitely be a man. defect, given that the new clutches have been changed. Have you noticed a difference with the new clutches, ie responsiveness, durability, etc? Thanks again for the help.

Getting tired of replacing parts on my primary clutch.. I have replaced a plate bearing, weights & pins & now I need new shoes.. I have 4k on my bike, is this normal for all belt driven clutches or is it just a poor kawi design??
