Would adding a snorkle (DG or Napa) help a p700 that is running lean? A couple of times my p700 backfired through the carbs. It happened on my property and there wasn't a change in elevation. It always seems to happened in colder weather. I thought I read that backfire through the carbs- running lean / backfire through exhaust -running rich. Do I need to rejet or add more air, neither...? When this happened it also sounded weird. For example, when I had it in neutral it would idle and then rev like I gave it gas and then idle. Even if I turned the idling up it did it at a faster pace. Any suggestions or mods the fix. I also thought P650/700 had tendency to run lean. I should check my plugs.

Guz,
If the bike is changing idle speed significantly without you touching the throttle, I'd say the float needs adjusted.
Re: your question about more air, I'd say no. That probably would only worsen the problem. If it backfires as you let off the throttle, it's probably a lean condition. Another cause of backfiring that people don't think of is a leaky exhaust.
Hope this helps.
