DSEngineer: I'm going to take friendly exception to your post. In general I agree that you will get biased feedback if you only post a x vs y question in the x forum, but looking at the posts that Shotgun got in response to his question (including mine) I think he got very good feedback. In fact, when I look at what I posted I pretty much touched on all the points you made comparing the DS to the KFX-700.

What didn't happen in this case, but happens a lot on the Yamaha forum, is that nobody said "get x because y sucks period." What I see a lot of on the Yamaha and Bombardier forums is "KFX sucks KFX sucks KFS sucks"... whereas in this case nobody said "DS sucks DS sucks"

So in general I agree that you have to look for the bias in the forum, but in this case I think SHOTGUN got good advice and got a good look at the pros and cons of each bike along with a healthy dose of "try both and see what you like better"

blah blah... rubber side down... blah blah

Shotgun, you may also want to consider price.
DSengineer, correct me if I'm wrong but I think the DS is about $7K where as the V is under $6K in most cases (I paid $5850 OTD last March).
I like the big DS very much but no reverse was a deal killer for me. In the northeast, that is a must have.

Just my $.02

I believe that a new Viper DS retails for $5999, whereas a new V-Force retails for $6499 (I think).

I do have both and they are both very nice machines. The DS is faster and a plusher ride but you can take corners much faster and tighter with the KFK. The kfx will throw you like a bull if you hit something wrong like a rock or stump were the DS will go over it Ilike going over.
