Default Old mojave! Good deal?

i have a question...well actually a few, for you guys that have had your Mojave's for a while. for starters, how is the powerband on it, i mean where does it get the most power, low-mid-top?? since i ride mostly trails, and mud, and some open dirt-roads with alot of Ruts and bumps . i want to sell my Blaster, to get a 4-stroke sport quad. so far the Mojave is in the lead as far as my choices. iether that, or a new Raptor 350? so im looking for good advice on the mojave, the few times i actually rode one it seems like a fun quad to have. if i get one it will probly be brand new. i can get a good deal on an 04, so im seriously thinking about doing it! so anyone have some usefull input?

Pmanx, for mine the power band is 1-2-3, and the accelration from 2-3 gear is awesome, So, on trails and around corners it really comes to life. I noticed more of the power after I put on the k&n and stage 2 jet which seemed to compliment the supertrapp that was on the bike. Mojaves were made for trail riding. It's been awhile since I rode one with new suspension, but, mine isnt to bad. I have stock shocks up front and a works with rezzie out back. I can take the whoops much better at pismo. I'm still trying to get the perfect set up with the rear shock. The 350 Raptor is a warrior with new plastics. I will not comment on it, only rode the warrior once, and it was on a oval track a couple years back, Friend had put a twist throttle on it and I was checking it out. Anyways, I think it's ,madefor the type of riding your describing. Good Luck Lt.Dan

Rescuediver, thanks for the link but that starter is almost as much as I paid for the quad. Think I'll keep kicking and spend the money on add ons. Maybe I should try the stuff you have done. Hopefully I can locate a used slip on pipe. Talk to ya later.

procomp, use the choke when cold, if it is warmed up, no choke and and hit the throttle when you kick it over, should start first or second kick. pman my mojave has a heck of a topend and mid, stock the bottom end wasn`t what i wanted but with the pipe, jet, and filter everything is really well rounded, for the trails and roosting around you will love it.

.. Hey PmanX8, the Mojave is pretty great all around but has a small but noticeable 'dead' spot on the very bottom. I found that a simple swapping of the stock carburetor with one from a 400ex because the ex model has an accelerator pump which gives you a squirt of gas to get things moving instantly, very handy when you're under the gun outta the turn in a race. Not only in a race, the fun factor is greatly enhanced.

.. Here it is folks, I took a picture of my engineless 'jave. It looks like one of the previous owners ran into something pretty good and the nose of the frame is bent in so the frame/ engine on the creeper is what will be used to build on. Dig those Gold rear wheels, they're 8 inchers; off of a tri-Z, remember those- hadda take the seat off to fill the gas tank. Kinda wish I could get my hands on some gold ones for the front........................

Hey thanks for the input everyone. i still have a while to decide what quad ill end up with. the reason i want to also look at a raptor ( i know its basically a warrior), is because its a little bit bigger than a mojave, and im not a small person LOL. im about 190-ish, at bout 5' 11'' so how well you guys think a Mojave would accomidate me? i know id change the handlebars right away if i baught one. im still thinking on it. thanks again!!
