Armyman posted a terrific procedure for adjusting Bayou valves; the Bayou and Lakota engines are extremely similar; E-mail me if you want a copy and I'll forward your request to Armyman.

Summarized, find TDC on compression stroke (timing marks & index, or remove spark plug, pull engine through with starter rope until air rushes from hole, piece of wire indicates piston at top). FYI: Intake and exhaust valves of all 4-stroke engines are totally closed at TDC on compression stroke. Remove valve caps (8mm wrench), insert feeler gauge (.004 or thereabouts) between valve stem & rocker. If too tight or too loose, loosen 10 mm lock nut and adjust screw to set proper clearance. Hold screw position when clearance is achieved and tighten lock nut; recheck clearance. If o.k., button up and dig out.

What, exactly, is your problem?

You probably have to remove your fuel tank to reach the front valve conveniently. Do you have a service manual?
