Default Clunking

I have a 02 P650 and when I let off the gas I get a loud clunking noise, when the machine is off and I rock it back and forth in gear I get the same noise but not as loud. Is there some adjustment I need to make, or do I have to take it to the dreaded dealer. Thanks in advance.

its most likely your shift linkage needs adjusting

Check your rear swing arm bearings.

Ditto: check shift link adjustment and/or swingarm bearings for play.

Looks like the shift linkage, only does it in low range. I can feel it in the handle when it clunks and by pushing the handle all the way forward it stops the clunking.
