What do I need nerfs for while duning? trail riding?
We could also try with statements like:
-All quads should come with paddle tires.
-All quads should come with wheelie bars.
-All quads should come with gun racks.
-All quads should come with (insert your favorite feature here).
You can kinda see where I'm going with this.

Have you ever ridden with nerfs? They are nice in the trails because they give you something to lean on in turns and rest on. They will keep sticks from coming up and hitting your leg or foot. They will keep you from catching a stump or tree in the leg if you happen to slide off the side of the trail. In the dunes they will keep you from running over your own leg if you slip off the peg coming off a razorback.
Nerfs are safety items and are useful in a number of situations. They are not like the other items you listed that have specialized uses. They also do not reduce the usability of the atv like all of the items you listed do.
What if we didnt have some of the things we have now? Do you have to have a rear grab bar, a front bumper, plastic skids, fenders? No, they are not necessary. But they do add safety and protection to the bike and rider without reducing the usability of the machine.
