What is the probability of needing to rejet after installing the CDI on a all stock machine except for TwinAir filter and DG snorkle?

How's it going Haynes, I can tell you that I put the High Lifter Power pack on my 04 P700 and the people at H/L said to rejet 142 front and 145rear. I would assume that with the new CDI you would need to rejet also. From what I have been told the Prairie is jetted lean from the factory, so a richer mix is always helpful. My 2 cents.

My P700 is jetted rich from the factory. It is bone stock. Plugs are black, but it runs pretty doggone good. I have the same question. Will I have to re-jet with the new CDI?

PrairieDeerHunter IMO the reason the throttle doesn’t hit hard at beginning is the belt is grabbing hold of the clutch. Girl friend has a Rincon and it hits hard off throttle, but that’s why they are still testing cdi\module for it. It hits to hard and things are breaking. I have a DG module with 28 mudlites and just got the Warn 4000 winch and have to let off the throttle to keep it from flipping over. The new CDI is going to be even better than that. But I’m waiting for some results and opinions to come before I put the money down.

DG Holeshot
DG Snorkel
K&N Filter
Dial-A-Jet
Supertrapp IDSX exhaust
Primary Dalton Plain\white spring
Secondary EPI black spring
P-700 Belt
28” Mudlites on C's
Warn 4000 winch on front
Warn 2500 winch on back
Headlight mod
Rear backup light

I came home today and there was a small box on the basement steps, what is this? A new CDI to my wondering eyes!

Now I will have to stay up all night to get it ready for tommorow! Good thing I have off the next 2 days!

I will let you know how it works and my setup after I get it running

While in Georgia this last weekend, I had a chance to test the CDI on two machines. We only were able to test bottom end. We had no space to open them up enough. So, that will have to wait.

I don't have the numbers at this point, but I will post them later. In a nutshell, we noticed no gains on the bottom end over stock. Why? We couldn't hook up on the dirt we were testing on. The wheelspin was ridiculous. I know MikeyB will probably test on pavement as I hope to this week.

The first time I fired it up, with the Dyna in, I could hear a difference. It pops different and has a little kickback now and then that wasn't present before. That isn't a bad thing. It is just different.

We also did a bunch of short drags with about 30 or so machines. I actually lost to a stock P700 with Maxxis Alltracs. I have Bighorns on mine. Again, wheelspin was an issue. I beat him on a second run, but, he said he forgot to lock it into 4x4.

More later.

DWB,
Could the popping sounds that you heard with the new cdi be caused by a lean condition? There has been lots of discussion on this and other forums about whether people will need to rejet with the new cdi (b/c it advances timing 5 degrees over stock cdi). What do you think?

PS - As of now, I'm still waiting on my new cdi to arrive on my doorstep...once it arrives, I'm headed straight to the secluded asphalt road in the back of my neighborhood to do some timed test runs.

Happy trails...

It's not that kind of popping. Although, I was listening for signs of lean running. I was referring to how the engine pops when it first fires up. Do it with your stock ignition, then the Dyna. It fires up a little different. That initial pop combustion is what I was referring to. The kickback, I occasionally get, happens when it fails to fire up initially. It never did that before.

I'll play with the pilots and see if anything changes. I'll be putting in the DAJ's this week also. We'll see what happens.

WAM, we need to hook up for some more testing time.....
