dynojet blues
I have installed a stage 1 kit in my p 650 and it has developed a stumble at 1/4 throttle.I put the 132 in the front and the 136 in the rear with the needles in the 5th slot.I thought it was fine till i hit the trail and at trail cruisin speed it stubbled.I messed with the mixture screws a bit and read the plugs and it seemed rich to me.I jerked the needles and went to the 4th slot and it made it worse and seemed to smell really rich.So now that i'm scratching my *** i pulled the slide caps back off and put the stock slide springs back in with the dynojet needles back in the 5th slot(also a new set of plugs)and it seemed to help it.But after a bit of riding around the yard and shaking my head its still stumbling.Does anyone have a solution for this head scratchin problem i seem to be plegged with?Oh yeah i'm in Indiana and have all the normal mods (epi red/black-nyroc muffler mod-dg holeshot-twin air-26 589's)If someone can help it would be great
Thanks
Robert

My friend has a P700 with exactly the same issue when he installed the DJ kit. If you search previous posts you will find the general consensus is the DJ kit $ucks. I told my friend to put in larger keihin jets and shim the stock needle and it works excellent now.
To bad you wasted your cash on the DJ kit.

I hate to think that I'm gona have to scrap the dj kit just that fast.At first i was going to do it the way you said but figured adjustable needles were the way to go.If i cant get this thing to perform with the kit dj supplied me than rest assured they probable wont be selling any kits to the locals in my area.

Oh yeah the thing idles fine and runs strong from mid to high rpms and even decent down low aside from the stumble.Could it be the other jets beside the main that isnt making a smooth transition from low to 1/4 throttle. If your in low range and just stab it it'll go ahead and just flip over backward. In high range its pretty much the same just a bit more gradual. In these cases its fine its just at cruising speed holding the trottle at about 1/4 does the stumble appear.A bit more gas or a bit less it will clear up but its just in the wrong spot for me to try to ride around it.

I have an 03 P650 and had the same problem. I was running 5th notch napa hose, twin air filter, nyroc mod with six 3/8" holes. Going to 4th or 6th notch made it worse. My plugs told me I was rich. I put in 6 uni-vents in the air lid. This helped, but didn't totally fix it. It was still a little rich. I cut the end off my exhaust and went to six 1/2" holes. Runs great now. Bottom line is these darn dyno jet needles are very touchy.
I also added the high lifter module at the same time I went to 1/2" exhaust holes, but that shouldn't have made a difference for the 1/4 throttle problem. It's all about getting the air/fule mixture just right.
