There is some stuff they use when you have a tire that constantly leaks around the bead looks like tar but a better solution in that case is a tube. The other stuff is a pain to clean off the rim and I don't think it works all that well.

 

The stuff you are looking for is actually called bead sealer, black stuff comes in a can with a brush. when it does fully dry you can peel it off fairly easy. Most parts stores dont carry it but most tire shops do. hope this helps.
