OOOPPPPSSSS

Ok went riding saturday with a friend that has a Wolverine that I just built for him to dial in the jetting. It has a 11:1 piston, cam and springs, HMF exhaust and a K&N. These mods made a big difference in the performance.

So we set up a little drag of about 1/4 mile. From a dead stop I could easily get a 4 to 5 bike length and walk away. But from a rolling start of about 15 to 20 mph I could not pull away at all neck and neck until we had to shut down.

I'm like whats up did I build a Wolverine that would beat my P650? I don't think so with those mods.

So we do another run rolling start run, only this time I'm watching the speedo we top out at 51 mph.

I rarely ride fast over 40-45 and have never done a top speed run to see what it would do, I always assumed it was like everyone elses in 60 + or - range.

What gives? I checked the belt today it's not worn and is adjusted correctly. Am I hitting that wall where the timing retards and it takes forever to build speed after that?

EE, only 51 mph? You better get that thing to a doctor because it is very sick. My cousin's P360 will run 48 (he weighs about 155lbs.) My other cousin's P650 when it was stock would run 69 mph on pavement (according to the speedo). We replaced the secondary spring in it 2 weekends ago with a black EPI and put a P700 belt on and he hasn't been able to open it all the way up again yet. So far he had it back up to 60 and still climbing but ran out of road. His only has about 900 miles on it. How many miles are on your prairie?

If yours is stock and your only getting 51, there is definitely a performance issue somewhere...

EE,
I must agree. If you can only get to 51mph, then you have a BIG problem. I can about guess that it is a jetting problem, as I have been stuck in the mid 50's with jetting issues before. On the other hand I just posted the topic about being dissappointed with 63mph, but 51 is something to be concerned with.

admittedly, they can take quite awhile to go from 45-50 mph, to top end... that last 10 mph, proably takes a longer distance to achive, than what was needed to get to 50 mph... if you can only go 51 mph, then there is something... it could be as easy as a filter that is too plugged up, jetting, even the 26" Mud Lites... the 26" tire will read slower on your speedo, than a 25" tire...

I think he was referring to topping out in the 1/4 mile.
