I have a 1987 tecate 4 that I recently purchased and am having some difficulty with the ignition system. When I got it the bike it wouldn’t make a spark. I replaced the CDI and the stator coil.. When I put it all together it worked like a dream. Fired right up. So I rode it for about 3 hours and the whole time it stared easy. I let the bike sit for about 2 hours and tried to start it and it wouldn’t start so I put a new plug in and it started right up. I went and rode it the next day for about an hour and then took a break for about a minute and went to start the bike and it wouldn’t start. I pushed it down a hill and tried to start it. It tried to fire but just wouldn’t start all the way. So, I got it home and check to see if it was making a spark with a new plug. It doesn’t make a spark just like when I bought the bike. What do you think it could be? The stator coil bad already? The CDI? The ignition coil? I am stumped. I guess I will take the flywheel back off and look at the coil but I can’t tell if its bad just by looking at it.
