what kind of oil?
Oh boy. Your gonna get all kinda of answers with this one.
I like full synthetics myself. Kawasaki's synthetic 10w-40 oil is made by Motule and works good but has a low flash point.
Mobil1 makes a 10w-40 and a 20w-50. I think 20w-50 is too thick for +25! BRRRRR!
Right now I'm running Amsoil motorcycle oil that is a 10w-40 and my oil consumption is down. I'm betting that it has a high flashpoint.
You may want to look at the bombardier oil. They sell a synthetic 0w-40 that may be well suited for your temps.
BTW: It was 85deg here today.

I run Amsoil 0W-40 in my Mohave. No problem with the clutch....go to their website for complete info: http://www.amsoil.com. You can run it in new or old engines. I would not run regular oil in a quad or motorcycle. The temps and demands on the motor....break down conventional oil very quickly. I'm partial to Amsoil, but any high quality full synthetic is preferable.

For the 10000000000th time synthetic oil will not make a clutch slip!
The oil base has nothing to do with it's Friction modifiers. You need an oil that says that it meets the "JASO-MA" specs. Look on the back of the bottle for this or just "MA".
You can also use a diesel engine oil if it says that it can be used in an Allison trans. Yes some Allison automatic transmissions use motor oil instead of ATF.
Theres no reason not to run a syn oil in an older engine.....Unless the engine consumes large amounts of oil that would make using synthetic oil a waste of money.

Amsoil atv/4stroke 0w40 is a great choice. I have had great results using it over the last 1800 miles on my prairie. It always looks brand new when I drain it after 500 miles(i'm going to extend to 1000 this time). I have no visible oil consumption either between changes. It has no friction modifiers/works just fine with wet clutches, and provides all the cleanliness, startup, and high temp protection you get with a quality synthetic. No I dont sell the stuff just like using it in my quad

Chris142 and Lightman-you're both right on with your comments!
I only became an Amsoil dealer to buy it at a better price. I've only supplied to family.
The stuff is fantastic in my Mohave and 400EX (0W-40) I also used the 10W-40 that was around before the 0W. Both great....
