What kind of quad do you have ? I know on my v-force, the tank is not vented, you just have to open it slow.

Default gas tank help

There is a vent, it is on the sending unit on the tank. If you remove the seat and look at the top of the gas tank there is a round metal cap with some wires and hoses going to it. That is the sending unit. Your fuel is pumped through one of the hoses and the other is a vent. You can follow it to the rear of the bike. Look near the frame rail above the right rear tire you'll see where the hose connects to some bulbus tube. They have been reports of the hoses getting pinched back there. HTH
