I installed my new CDI tonight. I also added NAPA hose, .030” shim under needles, and rejetted to 145R 142F.
Before the changes I could pick the front end up with ease, now out of the hole it’s a dog. Won’t even pick the front end up in low, and there is no plastic or rack on now.
I will pull the shims out this weekend and try again.

I would try making changes one at a time so you can see what did what.

Sounds like you are getting 2 much air now, kinda like taking the breather top off.
I also agree with the earlier post of one mod at a time.

I installed my Dyna today also, I noticed some very good improvments everywhere. I think the biggest gain I noticed was in the middle of the RPM range. I also think I can get more out of it if I just fine tune everything (Carb). I am still running stock air filter and snorkle. I will get the NAPA hose this weekend and I already ordered a new filter. After this I expect I will have to open up the carb and re-jet, re-shim or whatever.

I think your rich, 650 is rich from the factory. the snorkal only helps lean it out a little.

cueball.. is it rich enough that the nappa hose, twin air, and cdi wont make it too lean?

Yeah, it sounds like fuel/air issues, or the new CDI has issues? Try rehooking the stock CDI and try it again... if it's worse, rehook the new CDI and try running without the airbox lid..... The pull the front plug and see if it's wet ... If it's bogging that bad after the new CDI, it sounds like it's REALLY rich. I'd pull the shims from the needles, and try it again.....

Like the above post.. it's best to do mods, then try it ... BEFORE playing with jets/shims...

Goodluck!

Don't think so. P650's are generally lean, as is everything due to emission standards.
People are running 142/145 jets in stock machines with the new CDI and having no problems. You could probably put 142/145's in a bone stock machine and you wouldn't have a problem.
Grizzlytim - check the work you have done so far; in particular make sure that the rubber flap isn't covering the end of the new snorkle. Another more likely cause would be improper assembly of the carbs'; make sure the slides are not binding and move freely throughout their travel. You're also certain that the needle shims are 3/100's and not considerably more? Or not fully bottomed out?
The mods you've done shouldn't cause a problem; it's how the mods were done that's causing the problem. Unless, like Vengence said, the new CDI has problems.

My 650 @1200ft didnt need to be rejetted with the snorkal or the pipe. My 650 was rich with the 138/142.

Grizzlytim how was it acting after like 30+mph?

Called in sick today to work on the 650.
I removed the needle shims, much better. I will leave the larger jets in tell I have a chance to open it up. My yard is way to small to get up to any speed.
My 650 stock is a touch on the rich side except for the pilot jet. I would like to go up one size with the pilot, but have seen other post that say they are not available.
Thanks for the replies.
