I'm going to buy a GPS. What is everyone using and what are your likes/dislikes. I have very little knowledge on the GPS so be specific as possible. Thanks.

I run a Garmin Map 76 S
Nice unit.....spendy but nice
I like it cuz it has 24 MB of memory...holds alot of maps...and alot of detail
Most other ones dont have that much memory
DO NOT...I REPEAT...DO NOT BUY ONE THAT YOU CANT LOAD MAPS ON
most come with a "base map" loaded on them
not very detailed
you get what you pay for

I've owned 6 different Garmin GPS units over the years with no problems. They just keep getting better and better. Currently I use the Garmin 196 on my machine and a Garmin Etrex Vista in my pocket for hiking. The 196 is very fast and has a nice sized screen. For the best detail you'll need to buy a data card and Garmin's Mapsource software. You can get topographical detailed maps that have it all. You can also get road maps and use the GPS in your car when on trips. If you don't need the aviation database then the Garmin 176 would be a less expensive unit with all of the other features of the 196. Check out the Garmin website for more detail.

I have an Etrex Legend. It worked fine for a year then it started shutting off while riding. I called Etrex and they said it could be the batteries are loose. They suggested putting a peice of foam in between the the cover and batteries. If this did not work they would repair it for 100.00 dollars. I have the foam in but have not had a chance to check it out.

The Rhino seems to be a good unit and has a two way radio on it

Did a search on 'gps' over the past 90 days. Quite a bit of stuff there. (Of course I searched Arctic Cat first, then Kawasaki, like always)

I have 2 garmins an eTrex Legend and a eMap. The eMap is older and pretty big so I oly use in in the vehicles for fun. The eTrex is what I use on the ATV and it is great! The built in maps are really nice and the topo maps you can download are prtyy cool. I don't ride without it tracking the route.

Garmin Rino 120 is my vote: you can load base maps, two way radio, and your position can be sent to a buddy that also has a rino, so you can keep track of each other (as long as you are within the 2 mile radius for the radios to work. also you can buy a handle bar mount to hook on to your ATV.

Don't over look the Magellan Meridian GPS line. I have the Gold model with 256meg SD card. I sort of wish I had the color version but it was not out when I got mine some 2 or 3 years ago now. From what I understand it will take even larger SD cards. I love the extra memory and you would too.

I went to Utah 2 years ago and saved every days tracks to the SD card and they are still there. It's just a great GPS. The single thing that it has over all the others is the SD card.
