Maybe the kickback problem is only a defect with the first 250 that they made?

If so, Dyna should do the right thing and replace all of the first batch cdi's.

Has anyone had a kickback or other problem with a new replacement that Dyna sent you?

Default dyna cdi makes motor kickback when starting.

Just to let you know, we received our three dyna cdi on April 22nd (2 for 2004 p700 and one 02 p650) the 02 model was waiting in Scott's office since the first batch to ship all three cdi at the same time! Probably the p700 were from the second or third batch. As of today we did not experience any kickback on the two p700 but a lot more power!! On the p650 we do not find a lot of power increase and in fact the top speed with the dyna CDI seems lower than the stock (no acurate texting done!!this customer re-sold his CDI to another p650 owner)

I have a question for Lightman, 04kawasaki700prairie and all other prairie rider with the kickback problem: When did you get your dyna CDI??
Is this kickback problem CDI from the same production batch (defective components) or from differents production batch (compatibility problem with some bike)

I have a CD player on my p700, the low batery voltage does not affect my CDI!!! but I used to have a module and sometime when my batery was very low (cd player+ lights+grip&thumb warmer) I had to take my knife and cut the module off the wire and reconnect the pink wire in order to be able to drive back home!!! Never happens with the dyna CDI!!!

SPORTSMANEPLAN I got my first one on April 22,2004 and my replacement on May 14th,2004 and so far it works and very noticeable on this cdi.the first cdi the only thing i noticed was the rev limiter but no power increase at all. (only rode for 35 miles with the replacement cdi so far.) I will let you know more on the next ride. (ps) if anyone is planning on trying the new one I would recomend taking stock cdi with you just in case. Good luck to you all. Hope Dynatek takes care of you like they did me.(

Thanks Lightman & 04kawasaki700prairie

Lightman CDI was in the first batch and 04kawasaki700prairie CDI was on the second or third batch, it is not only one batch who may be have defective components or program but it seem to be random in all batches!!

04kawasaki700prairie how much more top end can you get with your new CDI compare to the defective dyna CDI and the stock CDI??
Is dyna explained to you what was wrong with your first CDI (programing or components)???

One of the guys I rode with over the weekend had the Dyna on his 650 and said he didn't notice any performance improvement at all with it.

You all might want to check out procomm engineering. They are the primary manuffacturer of CDI's and given the poor feedback on the Dyna it may be you'll have better luck with the Procomm.

Hi dbeck

Before ordering my Dyna CDI in March, I emailed procomm to see if they had a improved CDI for the P700, they reply saying that they only have one for the 400 and the vforce 700 and it was not for the p700!!
Did you try a procomm CDI for the Vforce700 on a prairie? if yes, what was the results??

I spoke with scott last week, and he mentioned that it was the components on some that were bad. I am sure this is a frustrating situation for dynatek as well. I am hopefully that they will get this all straightened out, as i am sure the product design is good, just bad manufactoring. alltoys has given his stamp of approval on the unit. It would definitely be in their best interest to get this all straightened out and everyone happy.
