Default dissapointed in my p-700

i got my p-700 today. it was raining so i only put about 75 miles on ot. iwas expecting alot more power than the grizzly i traded in, but it feels pretty close to the same. handles better but i don't think it is much faster. I'm getting 96 km/h on my 26" mudlights. doesn't seem to go any faster than that. I know jetting will help and i still have to install my highlifter module. also the belt is whining like my wifes banshee.

I am suspecting a poor set-up from my dealer. My 2500lb wireless ramsey was installed backwards so i can't make a sharp left. I was told to take the winch off and turn it around. i didn't pay for the install and i don't mind doing the work but i'm thinking if they can't install a winch properly, maybe my bike isn't set up right either.

What was your top speed on a stock p-700??

Edit: Late post.

The prairie is very quick and powerful right of the bat, but I have heard that it gains power and speed as it breaks in as well. A black secondary spring might help you get more punch with the larger tires.

I own both machines and can tell you that top speed is about the same, around 65mph with me on them. However the P700 gets there a good bit quicker and pulls quite a bit harder.

Let it break in. Are the tires up to pressure? You went full throttle before the 10 hour period?

As mobguzzer stated the top speed will be similiar...however, you will find the p700 will get there far quicker and is alot more torquey...what even makes it seem quicker is the lower center of gravity allows you to corner faster and the torque is great in the mud and on hills....FIX THE SQUEEKY BELT...the bike will perform alot better with the belt adjusted properly...I got my p650 from the dealer and it was making a slight noise on take off...they said it was normal and part of break in ... at 300 miles it made a constant screaming noise and it had worn a groove in my clutch...i learned two valuable lessons....my dealer sucked and belt maintenance is very important...kawi would have nothing to do with it as they claimed the 650s had no belt issue... it was eventually fixed by another dealer who did my first maintenance and over looked the belt as part of the maintenance setup...but that was a little battle in its self.

You will love the quad

I've had mine at 98 km/h going up hill 3/4 throttle.I'm thinking it will level out around 105.My bike is just as it came from the factory. My 700 seems to be working good,I also ahd a grizzley pull up along side me last weekend we where doing about 35 km/h.I gave mine the gas and haven't saw that guy since last sunday.Once your bike get's broke -in I think you will be happy with it.

700hemi,

I was getting 107, then 108km/hr with extended time on the trottle with factory tires. Now that I put 26dd's on her. I am getting 96, then 97km/hr.

So your going faster than the speedo states, the lower center of gravity just doens't make it feel like it.

Lean forward and she will lay blackmarks on the pavement, rev that baby up in the mud holes and she will shoot you out like a rocket when shes finds hard ground, the power is there.

The 700 gets a tad faster after break-in. I would break it in slower than you did. The 700 has more power than the grizz but the grizz has enough power too so the difference is not that much. 96 on 26 mudlights is faster than odo reads. Theres stuff you can do to make it faster. I'm not dissapointed in my 700 at all.

My 700 prairie ran about 65mph by the speedometer and my handheld GPS read about 64mph. After the break in time, it ran 70mph on the speedometer and 68mph on my GPS. My friend has a grizz 660 and his top speed after breakend is 64mph. We have raced on pavement and there is no comparison. The prairie is much quicker and reaches top speed much faster. The v-twin motor produces a much better power band than a single, and that is why
