Default 2 stroke spark plug question

I recently bought an 87 tecate 4 and it keeps burning up stator coils. The plug I am running and what came in the bike when I bought it used is NGK BR8ES. I noticed today in my manual it calls for a B8ES. I called the auto parts store and they said it was the same plug but a different heat range. Could this be what is burning up my coil? Does anybody know any reason why the previous owner would run a BR8ES? Any input is appreciated.

There is no difference in those two plugs. The R denotes a resistor type plug, which is required for vehicles with electric gauges etc. 8 is the heat range.

I run B8ES and have great luck with them. Also run Klotz Techniplate with no fouling issues.

So Tecate4fun, have you ever had any stator issues? If so I could use some help. I can't seem to get a stator coil to last more than 3 hours. I have a good email detailing the whole issue if you would like to see it.

I see you now have an aftermarket igition. how does that treat you? Can you run a light with that? Why did you switch from stock?

The Motoplat ignition is a racing iginition. I can not run the light. I would highly recommend some type of racing ignition. The performance improvement is truely amazing.
