I'm currently running the stock gearing (12/43) on my modified quad. I see alot of you w/ mods are running 13/41 gearing. I was told adding one tooth on the counter shaft is like dropping 3 teeth on the axle. So is 13/41 much different than stock? Whats the 13/38 like? Thanks in advance.

My Mojave has a magic button now! (Elc. start)

I have a 41 tooth rear on my 1987 Mojave. It makes a difference. You are not shifting as fast. I have 13/38 gearing on my 1990. I had to do this to reduce wheel spin, but it still pulls hard in every gear. Try going with a 41 on the rear first, then go with a 13 on the front. Yes, going up one tooth in front is like going down 2-3 teeth in the back. Either way it makes a difference.

I have 13/40 on mine. It was a nice change, lengthened each gear out, so you're not shifting so fast, and it pulls 5th fairly well, even with a huge guy on it.

And yes, rule of thumb is 1 up in front = 3 down in the rear.

Check out the gear ratio sheet on www.bombardierds650.com

It's great to print out and have.
