IMO, & I know you don't want to hear this... trade it in on a Prairie... again, IMO, it is easier to turn a Prairie into the untimate, than a Force...
The V Forces frames have been known to crack & break from the addition of the aftermarket rear racks... something that is really needed in the ultimate trail machine, for carrying tools, supplies, beverages, extra gas, tunes .... etc
The Prairies floor boards & lower fenders, help keep you clean & dry, no matter what the trail dishes out at you...
The Prairies 4 X 4 & low range transmission, & to an extent, engine brake control system ( KBEC ), are all definate plusses, when compared to the Force, in an ultimate trail machine...
any of the engine mods, & to an extent, suspension mods, that can be done on the V Force, can be done to the Prairie...
The Prairie can easily fit tires as small as the stock V Force tires, & can easily accomodate tires up to 28" tall, for muddy use as needed...
IMO, the Prairie is already the ultimate trail machine...

New Beatle, I appreciate your opinion but am only interested in the V and the DS. I don't need the 4x4 or racks for the kind of riding I do.

casino:
The V is already the ultimate trail machine.
If you are looking for add ons, I'd say:
Get a 6 pack rack for the back,
Bolt on a drink holder to the warning sign on the front left fender,
Put small LED lights under the fenders and around the frame to use for night riding. (it's hard to see your feet when riding at night. mini lights help out a lot!)
Rig up a back up light!
Attach some type of chum bag to the rear to hold empties/garbage,
then,
Muzzys exhaust,
Air box mods, ( i still use the stock air filter due to high dust levels where I ride)
Timing advancer key.
all that makes one bad machine

4x4 V-Force!!!!!!! It would have my name ALL over it! I am just shocked on how my wife's STOCK 250 Trailblazer can go through just about anything. I'm still in shock. So, I was thinking that the idea of a Scrambler makes A LOT more sense to me now. However, I would rather have a 700vtwin 4x4 by KAWI! I like the Prairie, just not exactly what I want.
I know it doesn't exist and my post gave absolutely no help, but wanted to share my thought nonetheless!
