Prairie 360 update
#1
Here we go again--Big ride yesterday so I put my peices parts together on saturday--I pulled the #90 starting jet and replaced it with the #155 main jet, and put #150 main in---I shimmed needle with .030 shim and reinstalled snorkel and air box lid. The starting jet must be a joke, because I noticed absolutely no difference at any time with that large a jet in place(its still in there) My top speed with the snorkle on the 150 jet is still hanging at a solid 30+ at the top of my test track hill, but my awesome midrange is gone!!! The difference between having the snorkle on and running with the airbox lid removed is very marginal, so I am guessing that the stock snorkle is adequate.
I will try experimenting again with the needle in hopes of gaining the strong midrange that I was experiencing with the #165 main jet.
I am also thinking about calling SUDCO and questioning them on how to improve midrange with this carb. May also ask them for a suggestion on a replacement carb that might be more easily tuneable.
Pushed a 450 honda (rincon I think) all day and challenged him to a drag race, good thing I didnt bet any money on it. I had the holeshot on him (he must have a really low first gear) and he pulled along side me in 2nd, neck and neck, thought I was gonna beat him, until he hit third, pulled about 10 quad lenghts ahead of me before he felt pity and slowed down. Honda was box stock.
As usual, bike ran extremely well.
Did get stuck pretty good in the mud though--I was following a polecat 500 with Goodyear Trackers and he made it through and I didnt.
