Default 650 charging system

I have an 02 P650 with a strange problem. Runs fine untill I turn on the headlights. Then I have an almost rythmic stuble, like someone quickly turns the key off and back on . Has anyone had a similar problem or have an idea? Charging system parts are quite expensive for this thing. Also, does the service manual have good coverage of the charging system, if so I will buy one. Thanks in advance for any help.

I want to confirm you made sure your battery terminals are tight and clean. At high speeds does your headlight fade and get bright at night? Never had a charging problem yet with mine. Did replace the battery twice.

Yes, terminals are tight and clean. Battery is hot. Passes load test with flying colors and has 13.112 volts resting voltage after 12 hours. Headlights don't seem to change. It just burbles. Charging voltage is at around 15 volts at 4000 rpm and doesn't seem to fluctuate when the problem occurs.

Kawi
I have the same prob with dimming headlights at speed at night.

I just figured that the fan was coming on and pulling juice from the battery.
Is there a fix for this or is it normal?

I found that the lights starting to fade at night was the starting of a bad battery. When your fan kicks in I find the lights should only dim for a second. A lower RPM and high beam could be different ( I don't use my hi-beams). Hot battery? indication of a short? I shouldn't get hot, thinking back when I replaced mine the first time It looked to me it melted. My winch wires just caught on fire last weekend and when that happened it drain the power from the bike and stalled the bike... Didn't blow fuses. So I know if a bad battery the machine would be cranky. Also watch your 2/4 light if it alters back and forth if there's a short in the system I heard it would do that.
