I use low range quite a bit. It's hell on a belt climbing a technical trail in High gear!

sledheadrich,

Not dissin the Brute but I always thought that IRS was mainly for more clearance. The Rubicon has 10inches and it is a workhorse. The King-Cat has 13inches with 26's on and a bigger tank. Kawi says it has the biggest tank in the business, sounds like Honda talking instead of the underdog. I hate that we are the best crap (especially when not), I would rather take the title from those who think they are and I don't think the Brute has the clearance to do it, the power might help pull her belly through the slop though.

I think they will get it right with more input from us, I suppose they had to keep the CB's at a low angle because of the power. She looks like it has TONS of power.

It must have H/L range, it gives the specs for two gear ratio's. The 1 range must be a misprint.

I still might get one, anybody want a well maintained 03/650. What do you think they will give on a trade in? I know the Artic-Cat will give you big time trade in here. Heyyou got $5,000 out of his 2000 400 kodiak just a month ago. At that rate I could get 7000. I'll have to ask the kawi dealer and see, will let you know.

ps, They don't sell lifts for the Cat or Grizz, I bet they will for the Brute, because they can, and Kawi will stay out of warranty issues on the axels. The lift will give us the same clearance that the others have but NO warranty.

I think they kept the ground clearance relatively low so the bike will handle better. And yes, lift kits for people who want them.

I think your right Sledheadrich,

If you go to Artic-Cat's site you will notice that the 650twin now has 12 1/2 inches instead of 13 and that's with 26's. So, really she is the same as the Grizz, 12 inches. She also weighs 711 pounds, a full 100 pounds more than the brute now, and 50 more than it was last year.

The drop is clearance must be because of the broken axel problems.

If you put a 1 1/2 lift on the Brute, you have EXACTLY what the Cat and Grizz have for clearance but if you want the more stable ride you leave it where it is. We might have the best of both worlds. Going to a mud rally, LIFT HER UP, going zzooming around the old logging roads and exploring, leave her stock. Take your lift off before you take her in to the shop and you will still get your warranty.

It's looking better all the time,

DOA
